Running form matters. A lot of people run improperly, and they usually develop some kind of pain somewhere. You could also have a weak joint somewhere that compromised the integrity of the whole system. (Sometimes people have weak ankles, so their knee compensates and gets an overuse injury, and bef...

Proper form is necessary for effective training. It prevents injuries, allows you to utilize proper biomechanics and leverage in order to produce work, and allows you to train properly. I understand that it is quite difficult and frustrating to multi-task. An example would be learning the deadlift: ...

I would really like to see what kind of shape you're in to be able to bang out 140 push ups in a clip cuz I'm pretty tight and even I can't do that many! It's really more about technique and Glycolytic fitness rather than "tightness", and I have had over 20 years of practice. Of course body composi...

^ Good shoes are also a big factor in running. I personally prefer the New Balance Minimus. It helps develop a proper forefoot strike that takes away a lot of the joint stress. Here's another story. I Lost Weight: Tim Bauer Cut Out Fast Food And Sugar And Lost 225 Pounds Paleo strikes again.

1. Strength Training. Muscles use up a lot of calories. I've seen great results with "Starting Strength". 2. Clean up the diet. More protein and fat, and less of the sweet stuff. I recommend "Atkin's" or "Paleo". Don't worry too much about the calories, since a lot of people estimate them wrong in t...

I know this thread is about Kick boxing. But does any one here do old school boxing? It's my 21st next month and rather than a huge party am thinking about asking my folks to pull a few strings and get me into boxing with some of the local greats. But even though I'm actually going through the proc...

Like I was saying, it's not about weight, it's about body fat percentage. That's measured differently. Muscle weighs 3 times as much as fat.

I do yoga, as well as a Jillian Michaels DVD (Cardio, Strength, Abs). I also unofficially exercise by taking long walks in the park with my puppy. ^_^ Don't get me wrong, I like Yoga, but it's hardly a workout. Neither is walking your puppy, unless you're wearing a heart rate monitor and constantly...

@Palakol: I think that Speedy is looking for serious advice that is both healthy and effective. I actually was serious, as his reason for weight loss was not specified. Maybe it's for a competition in a certain weight division, maybe a job depended on it, maybe it's for a bet and money was at stake...
