In your shoes, I would absolutely totally not disclose you have autism. If it's anything like the times I have disclosed (or the cat has been let out of the bag for me), people are cliquish and clannish enough about anything they feel is outside norms that it'll leave you open to discrimination.

Especially if you're the sort of guy whom kids are drawn towards, whose mothers allow kids to be next to you and to interact with you, there shouldn't be any problem. If not, what the heck anyway. Well the US is a big diverse place... and this sounds like simply the behaviour of certain sections of NT, no, human behaviour.
