I'm not talking about the difference between Sandy Bridge and LGA1366, I'm talking about socket 2011, which will be what, 40% difference if not more?

It just seems to me that you're trying to find a way to spend a lot of money on something, not caring about the actual value of the product. It's your rig and it's a very good rig, none of us is saying it is 'slow' or 'obsolete' in any possible way, but...You can just find a better bang for your buc...

In my opinion, the fact that the 990X is close to €1000 and the 2600K is close to €300 is a pretty important factor but yeah that's just my opinion :) it's your computer, build it however you like :)

The i7 990X is a last-generation Intel processor. Wait for Socket LGA 2011. The i7 2600K comes close to the 990X (when only 4 cores are used, not many if any at all games take advantage of a six core CPU) for how much of the price? 30%?
