Definitely find a class to volunteer in before you sign up for any classes. Teaching requires a lot of social skills, and there are many unwritten rules. It is MUCH more than just sharing what you know. |

Thank you wee one for your post. My husband teaches 6th grade and I have both elementary and college teaching experience. There are a LOT of negatives, especially right now. Your post is exactly what I would want to tell someone on the spectrum. For me, it did not work out, and I am now retraining. ... |

First, I have not been diagnosed with AS. I at least have some sensory issues. I am currently a teacher at my local community college. I have also taught at the elementary level, and my husband is an elementary school teacher. I have actually started looking for a new job. I teach part-time, but it ... |

I'm so sorry you feel so bad. I wish there was something I could say to make it all better. I have felt all of those things myself and it's rough. I know you don't want to hurt your mom, but she just wants what is best for you. It sounds like she's been trying to help you see the professionals you n... |

I'm sorry you are sad and frustrated. I feel like that a lot too. I usually turn to chocolate. You may not want any replies, but have you tried getting outside a bit? Sometimes that helps me, not always, but sometimes. It doesn't fix the life problems, but it can change my perspective, at least for ... |

Yep, I would have totally thrown a fit too. And I might not have apologized later. If you specifically said chocolate, then she just ignored you. VERY frustrating. I love chocolate, and a white cake is NOT in any way a good substitute. |

I find the zombie ad that keeps coming up when you access a specific group (ie. womens discussion) very upsetting. I prob. need to learn how to block ads, but hubbys not around to teach me this week. So I will prob not come back to WP for a bit. I don't like scary things that I can't choose not to l... |

I was very happy to see this thread. I am absolutely afraid of the dark. I have to have the bathroom light on at night. A nightlight is not enough. If my husband isn't home, I sleep sideways on the bed so that my back is to the wall. I sometimes feel like things are moving in the room or something i... |

I'm sorry you are feeling that way. I've felt depressed many times in my life. I know it's really hard, but what the prev. poster said is true. Exercise and adequate sleep are key. Even just getting outside for a walk can help, but I've found that regular strenuous exercise is the best. I've done ki... |

I have not been diagnosed with anything, But I am definitely a B&W thinker. I think it is related to perfectionism for me, like someone before posted. It is also related to stressful situations, and not knowing what the possible consequences of something are. If I cannot do something perfectly, ... |

I don't like touching that much anyway, and I hate touching when I'm stressed, except from my son, and a good strong hug from hubby. But I'll be ready to slap someone if there's any light touching. Of course, I'm always ready to cry after a haircut, but that's just cause I have to get used to the ch... |

What is keeping you awake? Worry? Can you wake up your husband and tell him about it? My problem was that noises bothered me so much more when I was pregnant. Normally I can drown out my husband's snoring/breathing with a loud fan. But when I was pregnant, once I started waking up at night to pee, I... |

Of all the topics I've read on this site so far, this one makes me feel the least alone. Thanks everyone for sharing! I'm a possible aspie, married to a mostly NT man. We have an 18 month old. And we don’t have sex very often. My body has a high sex drive, but I am not interested in actually having ... |
