Tomcats ~ I can always smell when a tomcat has been around although my wife often says she can't smell anything. LOL! Me too. I'll go in the living room (which has a sliding door to the outside), and say, "UGH! It smells like cat piss in here!" My wife feeds the strays out back. She can't smell the...

I'm extremely sensitive to chemical smells. Gasoline, paint, perfume, etc. I had to ask my mother in law not to wear purfume when she visits because she dumps the stuff on. It gave me a terrible headache and I worried about my son being exposed to the stuff. "Natural" smells that aren't good for you...

Alot of people say that Autistic people are gifted in some area.. How many of you would consider yourself gifted in an area? If so, what? Note: This is not an ego thing or anything, if you think you're pretty bang flash talented at something I really want to know. :) I don't see myself gifted at an...

Definately accident prone! Many tumbles down the stairs when I was little. Many bike accidents. Combine accident prone with daredevil and it's a disaster! I was always the kid to "test" the rickety ramps my friends and I would throw together. I only had one bad bike accident. I was flying down a hil...

Yep. I've always been eccentric. I only started to notice I was eccentric in my early teens. I didn't have "normal" hobbies. Pre-computers I liked to do woodworking, particularly carving. I remember once when I was out of ideas for something to carve I just started making a miniature tool rack. I gr...

My son's a "toe walker".

It's a sensory integration issue. If you walk on your toes, chances are you also drag your hands along walls, railings, etc. when you walk.

I just picked Arashi because I like the word. It means "Storm" in Japanese.

But come to think of it, my brain always has a storm raging inside, so it's probably an apt nickname. :)

Excellent story.

I see many parallels to my own experiences in High School. I'm glad you're doing well now.

My son is absolutely my favorite part of life. He's an endless source of joy and trouble. :) ...this curious & pathetic fact of life: that when parents are old & their children grown up, the grown-up children are not the persons they formerly were; that their former selves have wandered away, never ...

The spirit is unlimmited in itself, when it has left the body. The body is a kind of limitation, for you to grow. The brain might be damaged, but that doesn't mean, that the "self" isn't there. It just can't express itself nomore, 'cause the things it needs, to do that, is damaged. It's like you wa...

To mark today (Pearl Harbor Day) I sat at the computer, smoking a bowl of tobacco, and read all I could on that day and WWII in general. I was almost in tears by the time I was done. 50 million people killed in six years of war. The darkest times in all of human history. Not only should we remember ...

I've had some strange experiences, but I wouldn't classify them as "supernatural" because I believe they're natural events that we simply don't understand. However I'm firmly convinced there is NO afterlife. It's easy to prove. If our souls, ie "who we are" went on after death, then no matter what h...

Pipe smoking is like cigar smoking. You're just supposed to puff (or sip) the smoke. Although some pipe and cigar smokers DO inhale. The smoke is much harsher than a cigarette, so I don't know how they do that. I used to smoke cigarettes when I was a kid, but on the rare occasions I've accidentally ...

Sounds like you're suffering from depression NeantHumain.

When I'm REALLY depressed, (I'm always mildly depressed), activities that I used to find enjoyable are boring to me.

I generally don't go out much and I have a very low tolerance for alcohol. Occasionally though I like to go out and have a Guiness with friends.

Although for the past year or so I can't drink at all since I'm on depression meds.

Anyone else suffer from Hypochondria? Hypochondria, like depression, started for me when I was a teenager. Every little change, no matter how small, triggers "cancer fears". My one remaining vice, pipe smoking, triggers my Hypochondria on a regular basis despite the fact that I'm a light smoker, (no...
