The way I could tell if a guy liked me is when he kissed me or held my hand--guess that's not much help if you want an earlier signal. |

I don't have a problem with nighttime but when I was a kid, I hated sunset. When seeing a sunset I felt dreary and depressed. Then the summer I was 10 we had a really wet year so it was always cloudy at sundown so I didn't see a sunset for months. After that I was okay with sunsets and today I like ... |

On a philosophical note, there are two world views on time: linear time, a product of Christianity and cyclical time, a prechristian/pagan concept. Linear time assumes progress of sorts over time. The cyclical time concept holds that there is little actual progress, everything is a cycle as in the s... |

I presently have the ideal job: Working at home as a medical transcriptionist. The routine is calming and I love to type but the medical terminology adds interest and challenge. And, of course, I don't have to deal with anyone other than an occasional phone call. I've never even met my present boss! |

My first husband used violence against me. I read somewhere that people with Asperger's syndrome are vulnerable to abusive partners because we can't read the warning signs. That would make sense, as I thought my first husband was very kind, gentle and patient (before I married him) but when my siste... |

being a vegetarian is all fine and good as long as you aren't totally veggie, i.e., include dairy, eggs or some kind of animal products. The human body requires 22 amino acids to meet its protein requirements. Soy beans, quinoa and other plants high in protein actually are deficient in at least one ... |

Yeah, I'm worried about a backlash, mainly regarding my son. He's 14 and has AS and yesterday I got a call from one of his teachers about problems with him. Never got a clue of problems the whole school year up till now, the same week the VT shootings happen so I do suspect psychological profiling. ... |

My oldest is AS. I think it helps if you are too, as you can understand your child better than NTs can. I homeschool my son and feel I have saved him from a lot of cruelty by so doing. Not to mention I can teach him more effectively one on one as he does horribly in classroom situations. Most docs o... |

Thanks MC I really do have a hard time with the exaggerated responses (or high drama, as I call it). Like the time he said, "I'm leaving" and I thought he was leaving permanently when he actually just wanted to not be in the same house with me for a few hours. Interestingly, he has a problem with my... |

I have three boys--oldest with AS. It's good to see other aspies out there over 30 and with kids like me. My two younger ones are NT. In fact they sometimes act as 'diplomats' for me so I can avoid unpleasant interactions with other people. I really don't have friends and don't need them because my ... |

The Y chromosome that males have is basically an X minus one branch (A Y has three branches and an X has 4). Only the traits encoded on the 4th branch of the X and hence missing on the Y are affected by sex. Those specific traits (like colorblindness, hemophilia and a few others) are called sex-link... |

Yes, I found my son and coaxed him back inside. I guess I just operate under the assumption (delusion) that someday life will get easier and it doesn't.

My husband told me I'm getting weirder all the time. He also told me he doesn't like my son (14-year-old Aspie, also). It's hard to be an aspie, have a kid whose an aspie and have to deal with a perfectionist husband. He blew up at my kid so he (my kid) took off on his bike to get away from him at 1... |
