First of all, I think it's great you're thinking ahead about preparing for university. As with anything you want to improve on, practice is important. Look for practice problems relating to the skills you want to develop, and stick with it consistently. Make sure you have a solid foundation of basic...

I've had to deal with a similar professor in the past. Some people think they can treat you like dirt if you're different. I like to go by the quote "Don't tell people how to treat you. Show them." I think you're doing the right things by being the bigger person and acting respectful. Igno...

I suffered greatly through high school and college. I finally received accommodations my last semester of undergrad, but I never ended up using them.

I'm in a school psychology program and it's very social so I can relate. It's difficult to keep a balance between fulfilling expectations at school and maintaining your own wellbeing, but it's necessary. We need more self-care than others because of how stressful the world can be for us. I keep remi...

I'm always in my own world, especially when I'm around a lot of people and it's overwhelming. I avoid looking around at my surroundings as much as possible, so it startles me if someone says my name or tries to draw my attention in some way. At home I prefer to be left alone.

I regret the career path I chose knowing what I do know about my own limitations. There's no going back now though with all the time and energy spent, as well as the debt. I'm not even sure what I could handle with all my disabilities. It's scary to think about.

I have an eating disorder. I started at a healthy weight and dropped 20+ pounds through restriction and exercise. Now I'm underweight. I haven't gotten a diagnosis or treatment yet, but my counselor has noticed my weight loss. So it's probably only a matter of time before I have to face reality. I f...

Aspergers.

I appreciate all the information you included. If you're going to turn this into a book though, I highly suggest you run this through spellcheck.

I can't say I do, but it's definitely a positive coping strategy.

I probably do equally worse in either situation. At school I prefer lax environments because I'm a perfectionist and rigid structure makes me anxious. Ambiguous guidelines are also anxiety-provoking though because I always want to know what to expect. I grew up in a lenient environment with basicall...

I'm my full autistic self at home, the self I have to hide in public. I have meltdowns constantly because I can't stand loud noises and I often have to hear my dog barking, my mom yelling, the neighbors partying, etc. I like to sit on my computer alone and hate when anyone tries to disturb me. I fla...

Sadly I can relate to that. I was emotionally abused by my family growing up and I'm still living with my mom while I'm in school.

I'm currently in graduate school training to be a school psychologist. I will be working with students with disabilities, including children with autism. So hopefully I will be able to make a difference in children's lives. As you can imagine, my cohort at school consists of NT peers. You would hope...

I know people with autism tend to be more sensitive to medication, but I have a serious issue. My body hasn't been able to tolerate any of the mood stabilizers and anti psychotics I've tried, even at starting doses. My psychiatrist says I keep having backwards reactions to them. I'm about ready to g...

This is what I meant by "powering" through things. Even in my young daughter I can see it. SHe is intelligent, so she has been able to learn and devise many rules to keep her flying under the radar. It is seriously like a juggling act for her. She is concentrating on keeping all the balls in the ai...
