We went through something similar and at the same age. We did not have the attitude, the aide nor the ADHD, but did get the lying and failing grades from just not doing work. We pulled my ds' iPod over and over again. He'd get the grades up get it back. We'd pull it again and again for weeks on end... |

He has been refusing to work in school, has had multiple "homework slips" Meaning he has not finished his homework. He has lied about having his homework done. Since he is grounded he has had so much homework to do, he hasn't been able to do much. But this weekend we went swimming as a family and he... |

Ok, My son has had straight A's and B's all school yr except for a few weeks when we changed his meds, they slipped a little. His meds seem to be working wonderfully, but the last few weeks he has had such an attitude! I understand that this happens with kids his age(11 almost 12) but it's much hard... |

He has an IEP, And I am working on getting a behavioral aid to come in and help us with homework issue and such. It just seems that when he decides he doesn't want to do his homework that's that. He won't do it. I have had to send him to bed several nights after he has spent 3 or 4 hours sitting at ... |

My son doesn't have much for sensory issues. If fact I can't even think if one. He used to be sensitive to noise but doesn't seem to be anymore. It's usually just whining that he didn't get to play his games, or doesn't get this, or his brother did that. |

Thank you ALL! I have done most of the things mentioned but I will for sure use the "try again". I know it will take time and I'm sorry I should have mentioned he has AS and ADHD. I will keep working with him, He wants so badly to please us. That's why I have a hard time telling him I am mad at him.... |

BUT if he doesn't get to play his games or have snack during a movie or whatever it is that he wants at the moment, he will whine and cry. UGH!! !! Even over the silliest thing. And quite honestly I KNO... |

My son is 11 in 5th grade. If they asked him a question using .... what to you think, or do you think this was the right choice... He can't seem to grasp that there really is no right or wrong answer. He can't come up with his own answer. Or when he is reading in his social studies book, he will loo... |

My son is doing very well in school, for the most part. But he has problems answering questions if the answer is not "black and white". If he has to answer a question in his own words, he can't to it, and then gets extremely frustrated. Anyone have any advice? Any ideas how to explain to him how to ... |

The difference is amazing. We have our little boy back! He talks so much more, plays again and can go outside again withou... |

If you discovered your son were a genius, would you have included this phrase in your question? Probably not, because you don't think being a genius is anything to feel bad about, or something that there is any reason for someone to feel bad about. But you think having AS is something to feel bad ab... |

My son is very concerned with how he behaves. He tries so hard to ALWAYS be good. If he has a bad day at school it crushes him to tell me. No matter how many times I tell him that everyone has bad days he feels horrible. So I know he does care about that, Pleasing people is a big thing to him. What'... |

Thanks!! I tell him everyday how smart he is. He has a lot of confidence issues especially on his meds. The problem I see is, He doesn't seem to CARE about anything but playing the wii and nintendo DS. Even when I do talk to him about it I don't think he will care:( |

I have tried to ask him about how his medication makes him feel, and He can communicate that with me. Should I hav... |
