How about dyeing some of your clothes black? If you have something that fits you well and you like the style but not the colour, this would be a cheap way to keep some of your clothes until you can afford to get more.

I am glad that this worked out for you. I also have a problem not answering questions. I feel really uncomfortable and "rude" even if it is the other person who is being rude and intrusive! I am trying to think of what I would say in a similar situation. I might say something like, "I...

Thanks, wanderinggrl. I've added, "I don't know," and "I don't know - I need a couple of minutes to think about that" to my list of phrases to try. I just thought of another one - if the person makes a statement (instead of a question) that takes me by suprise, I could say, "Wait a minute. Would you...

What do you do when someone says something unexpected and you do not know how to respond or at least need a bit of time to process what the person has said? I am trying to think of how to handle this (it happens often enough to cause me discomfort). I'm trying to think of some gestures and stock phr...

I have a Samsung ML-1740 laser printer, and it has worked well for 4 years or more (it still works). I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I think it was around $200. I bought it at Staples. The toner cartridge lasts for several months. I'm not sure how many pages I've printed with one cartri...

I'm generally not a touchy-feely person, but I will hug friends hello or good-bye (I'm never the one to initiate, though, and it does not feel natural to me - I mean, it is something I have to "make" myself do, rather than just doing it spontaneously). It really bothers me when a server in a restaur...

Thanks, Hyperlexian - the link you included worked, and it turns out that a search for the user names of the people who PM'd me turned up posts indicating that these people have spammed others. I should have just done a search before posting anything.... Hyperlexian wrote: we can't allow peop...

Sallamandrina wrote: So again, please report or forward them to any of us or ask for help here ... I am appalled to hear so many of you have this problem and didn't ask for help. The link is broken in Sallamandrina's post. :( (I had to remove it from the quote because I am too new to post URLs.) I'v...

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me! I just got back from the bookstore and Aspergirls was one of the books I looked at. It looks really good and I might buy it in the future (I think it is also at my local library). I wound up buying Asperger Syndrome and Social Relationships - Adults Speak Out a...

I have known since I was a child myself that I do not want children. I am glad that my parents and in-laws have not put any pressure on me to do so and that my husband is fine with my feelings on this (he says he could have gone either way). The only reason I'm bothering to post this is for the youn...

Hi! I'm new here, too, and it sounds like we are looking for similar things at this forum. I am definitely a square peg myself. I am about to start carving my very own square hole, finally! I wish you well and hope this forum is helpful to you.

Hi! I am here to learn more about how to deal with confusing social situations, issues surrounding my sensitivity to noise, and a lot of my other "quirks." I have read a lot about Asperger's and autism in recent weeks, and I definitely have some traits. I had read a bit about autism before, and even...
