Personally, I had no idea this was a thing.

I call mine a variety of things, but all cute-related. 'Kitty,' 'kitten,' and so on. The P-word makes me suuuuuper uncomfortable, and I'm not even fully sure why. Same goes for the t-tty word for boobies. Eek!

I don't understand what "dead eye contact" means :? how does one go about deciding whether eye contact is alive or dead? I think it means that the eye contact is, maybe, 'awkward-seeming'? Maybe even too 'intense,' since it's not natural for most Aspies to feel comfortable with making eye contact--...

I've found that people with asperghers are often fans of things like mmorpgs, anime, computer games, etc. Aspergers people are generally what people consider the 'geeks'. Smart as hell, a little different/off socially, like games like MMORPGS and the lastest technilogical things. In fact, it's thes...

I'm a huge geek for MMORPGing, music, video games and anime. I thought that was just part of my geekiness.

inability to multitask Poor memory of vocal instructions (or is that just me) Anxiety in unfamiliar territory Dislike of change - female copes better then males, and the signs aren't as obvious, but an aspie girl will become uncomfortable with unexpected change. Still have obsessions, but tend to b...

ADD with ASD can seem like a nightmare at first, but I eventually found how they interact in my own case isn't as complex as I thought. The complexity was in figuring it all out. There are: 1 - Symtoms and experiences that overlap. 2 - Symptoms that conflict 3 - Symptoms that compliment That third ...

Goodness me, Tuttle. While I'm still unsure as to whether or not I have AS, I'm positive that my case isn't as severe as yours. I can easily see how Aspies (with their varying levels of severity) might read some questioning person's posts, wherein they list their symptoms, and groan. One thing most/...

So, Hella, maybe now you can see just a bit why it's so hard to get into how the AS and ADD play together. AS by itself is complicated enough! :help: You know, you're absolutely right. The more and more I read about ADD, I'm pretty certain that's affecting my life, too, along with whatever else the...

Maybe the reason she seems vague, is because Autism, when one first begins to learn about it, is a very vague concept to wrap one's mind around. It took me a very long time to learn to write anything precise about it. This! Oh, man, you nailed that down for me. When first introduced to the concept ...

Tuttle, you're right. I'm not sure I'm even expressing myself well enough to give you guys the information you'd need to know, one way or another, if my issues are related to AS or ASD or anything else. I always thought I managed to express myself clearly, but I often find that things I say either c...

Do you struggle with give and take, back and forth, in relationships and conversation? Do people find you "odd" or "unusual?" Do you (not as a child but now) struggle with eye contact and body language? Do you have issues with typical relationships? (This one's hard to prove when you have a husband...

Actually, no, it isn't really. But I suppose it depends heavily on what you mean by "broad." In comparison to some other disorders, ADHD for example, it is broader, but in comparison to the human experience, it is very narrow indeed. Well, yes, if you compare it to the entire human experience! :P B...

Perhaps that's the issue, then. I don't feel emotion about autism or identfying with it and never have. When I first heard about ASD, my reaction was something like, "Oh." And then when someone suggested to me that I had it, again, yes, things clicked over time... but I didn't really feel emotion a...

I'm not being remotely hostile toward you. This is how I speak (rather, type, as I don't speak very much) to people all the time. Actually, I speak with far more brevity than I type. You asked for an opinion, and I gave you mine, which I maintain, and you say I'm being hostile because I disagree wi...

... I can now look people in the eye without discomfort as long as I am generally calm. If I get angry or confrontational with the person I can no longer look them in the eye. This!! Like many of the other people who've posted, so far, I've developed coping methods to be able to look people in the ...

I'm inclined to agree fairly strongly with tentoedsloth, here, on the last two paragraphs of her post. If I hadn't found this forum and its resources, I'd probably still be poo-pooing the idea that I could even remotely come close to being autistic, in any way. Lots of the 'symptoms' that are usuall...
