I've noticed the forums can be a little cliquey here -- that's why I stopped using them for several months. Sometimes it seems like the format is "Let's kill the outlander" as opposed to "Let's see if we can learn something from each other." Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! (Only jok...

So what did you do after you were diagnosed? How did you assimilate this new definition of yourself?

I ignored it for 4 years, then decided to just deal with it. I found out as much as I could about it, and learned how to embrace it as a part of who I am.

I just think of all the times I felt lonely and wished I could be in a relationship. And then I'd end up in a relationship and it was so horrible and stifling and suffocating, I couldn't wait to get out of it. I finally realized I don't actually NEED anybody in order to do the things I need to do. I...

Having tried approximately 14,882 dating sites, I'd have to say that about 97% of the people I've dealt with are definitely shallow and superficial. I've run into a few who had some real depth, real thoughts, real working minds, but they're rare. I have never run across a compatible person on a dati...

I guess I just don't see how eliminating the forum would make anything better.

Those who don't want to read it don't have to.

Those who enjoy it will want it to stay so they can continue to enjoy it.

Seems like a fairly simple concept....

Forum: Art, Writing, and Music   Topic: Writing Aspie Characters - Help!

Speaking as a writer myself, I think the Aspie thing only gets to be boring, clichéd or down-right insulting if this is used in the sense of defining the character. You don't want him to come across as one-dimensional -- i.e., "this is all there is to him." The condition is a part of who he is, it's...

I am having a really hard time coping with my sorry excuse for a love life. When I actually like someone (which I admit is rare) I can't get anywhere. BUT... and here's the part I can't cope with... I keep getting horny men both online and in person trying to get into my pants. Some of these man ge...

Despite sporadic indicators to the contrary, on here, on YouTube, etc., it's hard for me to believe that there are actually women in the world who don't want kids....! And I may be a little biased because my relationship history is just FILLED with women who CLAIM not to want kids -- until the relat...

I never initiate. To be honest, I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to go about it.

I now realize I have met some Aspie males in the past before I was diagnosed. No wonder I found you guys so appealing! You spoke my language, but I scared you away because in the end, you still had the mentality of an average male. Boo. Discuss why aspies should date each other. I've never dated an...
