I definitely think in pictures, not words. Hence why I have so much difficulty putting my thoughts into words when speaking! For those who think in words, isn't it quite a slow process?! I can't imagine I could think quickly enough in words to be functional... I have to wonder about that as well, a...

I either think in words or...the actual CONCEPT of the thing. I don't often think in pictures, although sometimes when I'm reading or talking with someone I'll have a sudden picture pop in my head. Otherwise, it's either in actual words/sound of talking in my head, or it's neither a picture or a wor...

In the U.S you don't have to be profoundly autistic to get on SSI, a large percentage of aspies are on SSI in the U.S and get free government healthcare. If you have major anxiety and cannot work then a doctor will write a letter stating such, you will apply for disability and likely get it. Millio...

I've noticed when I'm in a group with other Aspies, I can read them easier, and I don't feel like I have to be so close-minded with my mouth. I can say things and get laughs from them I'd never get from NT. I have a difficult time assessing what NT people tend to be thinking

The way I like to see it....Aspies are a different breed from NTs. We have our set shared things that show that we are an aspy, but other than that, we're still incredibly varied and have our own varied personalites. It's like comparing two different breed of dogs. One breed may have what is conside...

All I can think of is I'd imagine the bitterness would come from being treated/bullied by NTs when they/we were younger, or even in the current life. Another is it is natural to want to be around, and to like, others with similar likes/dislikes, etc. By having a bad experience with someone belonging...

I've grown up in a very Mormon-populated town, and my family is all Mormon. I was raised as one, but stopped going to church when I was about 11 and one: started thinking for myself and two: couldn't stand how hypocritic all the other kids I knew were. I'd see them in Sunday School acting as if they...

Oh yeah. I just want to...stare at their face. I find I tend to not be quite as uncomfortable around good-looking men, because I'm so focused/obssessed with how good looking they are, I'm not thinking about my oddities, if what I"m saying is wrong, etc. That tends to throw them off the loop, and I f...

I often don't get jokes and my husband has to explain them to me and I simply shrug and say I still don't get it. I can understand that it's a joke and that it's supposed to be funny but I don't find it funny. Same with I often tell jokes that are so obscure they are not funny wheras in my mind the...

My real question- is it common to have a horrible work history when on the spectrum? How bad is it usually? Can anyone relate? What can I do about it? Can only speak for myself. During my last 10 years of employment, prior to switching to independent/self employed, I can count at least 10 jobs and ...

This is one of the smartest things I've ever heard. I need to start doing this.
I wear earplugs when I'm trying to sleep since until I'm in a very DEEP sleep, the smallest sound/noise wakes me up

I read somewhere that a lot of Aspies tend to enjoy things that are usually considered 'kiddish things'. For example, Spongebob. They'll like to watch it, and will wear clothing depicting the different cartoon/child-based things. I'm very guilty about this. I wear shirts with Domo, Spongebob, and ot...

I can't stand the sound of the loud booming basses that some people do with their car, and so I try not to play my music too loud. I also don't like to cry in public, or around other people, because it gets their attention, and when I'm upset, the last thing I want is for people to come up to me and...

I lose things all the time, but don't notice for ages until I need to find them again. I live in fear of losing my cell phone (that isn't even paid up! I just use it to keep phone numbers) and my sunglasses. What may help is to get one of those little mini notebooks, and to list all the phone numbe...
