Fair point, although I did edit out the majority of personal anecdotes as I felt more general advice would be better than specific stories.

For most contributors, a free copy of the book is worth more than they'd get paid if they were receiving the going market rate per word, even at professional writer's rates. :)

But that's not really the point.

Okay - it appears I made a massive faux pas. I am an author and an editor. I read through your social rule book some time ago with interest and noted that so many of you said it would be a really good idea to have all these rules organised and categorised somewhere where they could be easily found. ...

^Given that that is quite possibly true, do you actually have any useful advice?

And she can read, you know! I am actually here!

Thanks John - I am going to register with a new GP tomorrow and hopefully will be able to get an appointment sorted. Good work! As for the second element of your sig box I'd refer you to the statisticians (oui, c'est moi) view: "There's no such thing as normal, simply the mean of the abnormal" :D S...

I used to. I started at 6, and got to Grade 6 by the time I was 13., I barely scraped the exam and cried when my teacher put the Grade 7 pieces on my music stand. I gave up lessons shortly afterwards although I continued playing in the school orchestra. After a break from formal music lessons for a ...

Hi In 2009/2010 I wrote and recorded a song called 'Someone Like You'. It was a wedding present for my husband, who I married in 2010. Shortly afterwards, a young lady called Adele released a song called 'Someone Like You' which became very successful. So now, whenever I tell anyone about my song, I...

Naturally when being presented with one person's account of an incident, it is one-sided. My dh said I was "being funny" with him when I didn't have a problem at all. On this occasion it didn't go any further. He accepted what I said and left it at that. Probably because the last time he said it, an...

Hmm - he's just come in and demanded to know why I'm "being funny" with him when all I'm doing is watching Strictly. :( This happens fairly regularly. I'll be minding my own business and he'll want to know why I'm being funny with him. The more I deny it, the more insistent he gets and the more piss...

There is also the distinct possibility that no reputable mental-health professional will render a diagnosis of AS, but instead suggest treatment for some other behavioral or emotional issues. Be prepared to NOT have AS, but some other problem. Don't "fall in love" with the idea that you simply must...

As cancer is life-threatening and AS is not - it is far more likely that I would actually be able to get a diagnosis and treatment for cancer on the NHS than I would for AS. You've missed the point, which is that you have self-diagnosed a complex and little-understood neurological disorder and then...

As cancer is life-threatening and AS is not - it is far more likely that I would actually be able to get a diagnosis and treatment for cancer on the NHS than I would for AS. But, as I said, I have every intention of getting one as soon as is humanly possible. First I have to register with a GP round...

We haven't been married very long (July 2010) and we didnt know each other very well before we got married. In a couple of weeks it will be three years since we met. I do love him very much, and he loves me too. Everything is fine - until we have an argument. Generally we have an argument because . ...

I took the aspie quiz a few days ago. Results in sig. Since then I have been reading a lot about AS and finding there is so much I can relate to. But my dh is not coping at all. He wants me to get a proper medical diagnosis before he will even consider the possibility that I have AS. Which I don't m...

Your post makes a lot of sense and it resounds with something I have been thinking about since I took the test. I have a collection of odd behaviours, which is me - it's just the way I am. I've always been this way. But someone has decided that this odd collection of behaviours can be called Asperge...
