I would put your own feelings aside and consider the fact that this person is in a position of authority/power in the academic setting, and that makes it totally innappropriate and unprofessional for an instructor to show interest in a student. I agree with BlueMax, wait. I don't like to make assump... |

I can totally relate to the need for solitude. As an undergrad in residence I had private rooms and that was cool, but now I am a grad student living with my g/f of 13 years. My need for solitude was a contentious issue for years; she would be offended by me not spending time in the same room and st... |

I'm still learning about AS and was wondering if anyone else ever get this sudden feeling that you're missing something, that there was something you were supposed to do and you forgot and your going to get in trouble or people will be dissapointed in you (big fear for me). When this happens to me,... |

I am not sure how anyone can find the coworker/employee's comments relayed by the OP to be anything but offensive. If the woman needed time, she could have been less graphic about it, and when she was made aware that she was bothering him she purposefully went the other way and that is harassment; s... |

For background purposes, my research, which is still ongoing, consists of a massive electrochemical corrosion study (which involves ~5 separate electrochemical test methods), as well as compositional anaylsis of nano-scale (1-10 nm) oxides under numerous electrochemical conditions (using another 4-8... |

Wow, I can totally relate to thread. I did my undergrad in 5 years, which was normal for Mechanical Engineering at my school; studying a week before exams, never earlier. Then I did my masters, with thesis, in 8 terms, but should have only needed 5. Now I am dropping out of my PhD after 9 terms. I w... |

So you are talking about writers block of some sort? I am writing my thesis and will go days and even weeks knowing what I need to write and how to explain it verbally, but to actually put it down on paper seems impossible. For me, it feels like I have a sphere of information in my head, but I have ... |

I had very violent meltdowns when I was younger. Starting around puberty, I also got into the self-hate and self-harm. I had some scarry days when I was in high school, I hate to even think about some of the worst meltdowns. Most of my worst were caused by my parents who were aweful to me for being ... |

Never had any for undergrad because I only got dx'd during my PhD. Now all of my exams are oral and to a comittee. My accomodations are (1) I can leave an exam if I meltdown or go non-verbal, (2) I have extra terms to complete my research, (3) I can choose my examiners and meet them informally prior... |

I don't understand why the government(s) don't just drop the term "marriage" from laws and what not. I am in a "civil union" in Canada, and I could care less about some "married" status. We've been together for 12 1/2 years, that wouldn't change anything for me. Governments, for all legal and practi... |

Being a gynotropic male, I prefer the company of women. Men are icky. I can't stand their "Alpha-Male" posturing games. I think its the Alpha-Male" posturing that makes me uncomfortable around males. I'm midway through mine in materials science. I want to continue in a academic or government research role, pwehaps do the professor thing as well. My comprehensive exam is coming up (~4 hours oral exam) and I am freaking out about that, but my examiners and PhD supervisor are aware of my Aspergers ... |
