What snapcap is trying to say is that the absence of belief in string theory requires one to believe in loop quantum gravity theory. It is impossible to suspend belief in both theories because there is no empirical evidence as of yet, or because you're not sufficiently educated in theoretical parti...

Smoking can kill you by second hand smoke that's true but why would you go to a resturant and eat at a place wear smoking is allowed then complain about it at the same time.

From what I've gathered you get about 1/1000 the smoke that a smoker does. Not really anything to freak out about.

That is how i started out :) But it changed a lot lol

I started out Christian, turned agnostic, then veered to Deism. And I've been here for a few years now. It's comfortable enough.

People generally want people to believe what they believe. Some people are mature enough to ignore that desire. Some people can't handle it and become militant about their beliefs. These people sometimes end up speaking for their beliefs and make their side look like as*holes. And every side has the...

I'd best be described as a Deist, but I really don't think about it too much. I just believe in a god. That's pretty much all there is to it.

I am not saying that you are stupid or evil for believing in your god. I am just saying that if your god exists and the tellings of the bible are true, then he must be quite a Dick. That's why I think Jim Gaffigan's joke about being Catholic meaning that you don't have to read the bible holds so mu...

I don't have an opinion on this. I do expect to see the world end while I'm alive though.

It doesn't matter if they think they don't have a position, because they do. They can believe that they don't, but that doesn't make it so. I could ask an atheist, theist, agnostic, or gnostic why they have their position, and guess what? That's their belief! Why do you hold your position regarding...

I'd be pretty ticked too if I got thrown out of my country by a bunch of a***holes who felt sorry for a group of people. Why would I feel sorry for them? They dug their own graves. I'd prefer to see a state with strong human rights succeed than see a country that's known for hating women and gays d...

Israel. I have nothing at all against the Jews, but the land doesn't belong to them and the people who it * does* belong too are fighting to get it back. Israel as a country should not exist. Land belongs to those who possess it and can prevent other from taking it away. It is a matter for force, n...

Atheists ARE "open skeptics". Not really. I would say agnostics are. Atheists, despite what they may claim, usually are NOT open to the possibility of anything supernatural. They are die-hard physicalists. If someone asks whether there are any fairies in your garden, do you say, 'I do not know, and...

and most of all I would ban smoking in all public places, outdoors or indoors. If you want to smoke in your house, apartment, yard, or balcony then fine, but I should not be obliged to inhale carcinogens when I'm waiting at the bus stop. I don't see a problem with public smoking as long as there ar...

I also disagree with a smoking ban. It doesn't help that the anti smoking interests groups manipulate any study they fund to their favor. Maybe a valid one exists, but it's difficult to trust these groups when they pull crap like that.

Whatever makes the most sense in my mind. Puts me in the center of everything. Plus Issues tend to be more complex than the absolutes people make them out to be. It's why we get so divided. And it's why I don't take a stance on a lot of it. too many biased sources and research. People tend to only c...
