I've made a lot of progress in this last year. I've finally got a full time job that I enjoy, I've got a game night where I hang out with other people once a week, I've learned a lot about how to cook and I can finally mostly support myself, rather than relying on my family. I am working through thi...

Does anyone else get tired when something overwhelming happens to them? Yesterday, in the early afternoon, I got news from a close family member that, next month, they are going to get married to someone that they've been seeing for over a year. I like the person they are with and was happy for both...

Hi, welcome to Wrongplanet. One thing I notice is that you are very focused on behavior, so I guess you may have some training from a behavioralist point of view. You might consider how empathy and perspective-taking may play a role in your work. You mentioned special interests and sensory differen...

I feel that Asperger's Syndrome is a disability but that it can be helpful in some aspects, depending on it's severity. People with autism have sensory issues and trouble interpreting social cues. We have trouble dealing with disruptions in our routines. not to mention the meltdowns. No matter how y...

I have recently been hired onto a position that has me working directly with young children who are on the spectrum. In order to do my best by them, I am trying to look for advice from multiple source and I thought that Wrong Planet might be a good place to look. I am not sure if this is the correct...

Like, what gives? What is with all the discrimination??? I think that, considering people will be discriminatory over the slightest of differences. People are discriminated for sex, race, wealth or even if they cry at their wedding or funeral. There are definitely bound to be individuals who judge ...

I think that functional labels are necessary, at the very least, on a clinical level. People at different functional levels of Autism have different needs and removing them would make it harder to distinguish them. I think there is a problem with how those functional labels are viewed treated. Espec...

I really enjoyed your survey. It was very thought provoking. I'd love to know what the goals of it are, in relation to your thesis. I'm aiming to see varied voices from the community in regards to what they think about the Neurodiversity movement and what it promotes. Admittedly the questions are r...

I kind of gave up on fitting in 100% almost two decades ago When in doubt, I usually just aim to be extremely polite, sometimes to the point of formality. I don't have to lie as much, it's harder to offend people and there's fewer social cues I have to track.

In the process of earning my Conservation Biology degree, I learned about and developed an interest in fungi, finding the mycorrhizal species and their relationships to plants especially interesting. I also think it's neat just how many are out there to find.
