My 12 year old son has, since he was able to talk (coherently around age 6) told me that he hears voices of people who aren't there. He hears people call his name and currently hears a male voice in the house giving military commands. He says it happens rarely, so... I've never been too worried. Onl...

I play and have been an addict in the past. I think it's a beautiful, amazing game with infinite possibilities for gameplay. Yet I can see how a hardcore gamer might find it lame or easy... I mean honestly you could just wander around randomly killing stuff and still level up as long as you got trai...

I am fascinated by prisons, if there is ever a documentary or reality TV show about prisons I watch it. It all seems so dreadful and shocking that I feel like a voyeur peeking in on a train wreck.

You shouldn't have to spend 3X what you normally do, or deprive yourself, to eat healthier. Maybe they are giving you bad advice. A few simple changes here and there can vastly improve any person's diet. Try to do things in moderation, if you want to have something they told you to avoid, balance it...

The main problem for us has been finding a non-creationist science curriculum that is packaged for homeschoolers. I know there are lots of secular science textbooks out there but I haven't been able to find formal curriculum sequencing the school years that is affordable, secular, and designed for h...

Have you asked her why she likes doing it? IF she likes doing it?

She only recently started talking so can't discuss something that complex. When I tell her not to rub her eyes she just gives me a blank look... I'm not sure if she understands.

Is constant eye rubbing a stim (obviously if there aren't allergies or some other reason)? My daughter (age 3 1/2) has started rubbing her eyes so much that the skin is cracking and her eyes look bruised :hmph:. Usually it starts out when she's upset but then continues even when she calms down. I re...

I remember very clearly what it was like to be a child.

This is the main reason I'm a good parent.

I definitely have plenty of faults but for the deep issues I understand what my children are going through.

Are girls on the spectrum less likely to fall into the trap of dressing like that? And are there any girls on the spectrum that actually want to dress like that? Are those of us who are on the spectrum more self conscious about how we come across to all people, including in how we dress? I dressed ...

You're obviously very thoughtful, intelligent, and have interesting ideas to share. I would hazard a guess that your main problem is not AS but your self-loathing and depression (or depressive personality). These are going to be huge turn offs to a lot of mainstream women. Maybe the obvious solution...

I have thought this too. Why isn't the (often) rapacious male sexual appetite not considered slu*ty? Why isn't sweet talking a woman into bed considered abhorrent?

Yes I cook, I think I have a gift for it. I can get obsessive about it, to the point I will not/ can not eat anything I haven't cooked myself. I taught myself from cookbooks when in my early 20s, I have a photographic memory for most recipes, I just have to glance at them and then I experiment with ...

However, I find being a parent to be the most difficult task i have undertaken as a woman with AS. It is a frigging nightmare for me and i find living in a three person household to involve way too much social and communication exhcange - WAY BEYOND what i can cope with. The socializing required in...

I have always been extremely sensitive to taste. The only thing that has made me lose my sense of taste was a traumatic event that happened about 10 years ago. I was diagnosed with PTSD after the event. At the time I almost completely lost my taste, everything tasted like cardboard. Gradually my sen...

When I was late teens/ early 20s I felt so old... everyone else seemed to enjoy going out and having fun, but even if I had a chance to go out myself I never enjoyed myself and just wanted to crawl under a rock. Once in a while I went out alone to a club, and never talked to anyone, that was somewha...
