Hollywood media, in particular, continually promotes the idea that there is "the one" person who is perfect for you, that you only need find each other to "fall in love," which you both will "just know" when it happens, and then everything will be perfect. I loathe that sentiment. The notion that "... |

How about just telling them they like them lol. It is much easier than all this trying to guess. I mean really, why can't people just come out with it and tell you stuff instead of playing a game of mental charades. Unfortunately, not clearly conveying our fondness for someone else is another one o... |

I still advocate cash, or maybe a gift card. And please know that it wasn't my intention to lump every Aspie here into the same category (such as in assuming that every Aspergian likes to be greeted the same way). I only sought to gain insight from those who would obviously understand my coll... |

OP, At the other end of the day... How do you say goodbye to people? No, really!! I've worked in jobs where every day I've stayed late so I never had to work out what to say( or not?) to all the other people leaving the offices at closing time:-S When I have encountered people leaving at the same t... |

Your HR director is right. In a work situation whether or not she has AS or knows it is irrelevant. You have found a way to have a better working relationship. Fantastic. By knowing the general characteristics of AS you've likely managed to stop taking her behavior personally and also found ways to... |

You don't need to ask if she has AS to ask her how she likes to be greeted. You could bring it up in a nonjudgemental way, by commiseration. "Sometimes I feel" statements are great for this. Like so: "Sometimes I feel awkward when we meet every morning. It seems superficial, but I want to be polite... |

Disneylynn: talk to her and find out for yourself. This is how aspies want to be treated. Directly, as people, not as research subjects. Normally, this would be great advice. In this case, however, I don't think "Frederica" knows she has Asperger's. I only found out for myself recently when, after ... |

Thanks. :) I did learn over years, even before finding out about her AS, that "How are you?" is not a good icebreaker with her, so I've avoided it (especially considering that I don't like asking "How are you?" anyways; I prefer more specific, customized greetings, like "How was your camping trip?" ... |

Hi there! I'm an NT who works very closely with a female Aspie, and am trying to learn as much as I can about Aspergians, so I can get along with her better. One thing that had me stumped this morning was how to greet her everyday. How do people with Asperger's like to be greeted? I'm always happy t... |
