I'd say-
not made up at all, but not very well defnied, which makes it easy for the companies to encourage overdiagnosis and milk money.
but many of us (myself included) defnitely have very real mental conditions. |

Oyyyy...you guys are right. I guess it could be pretty much anything. I know it's not the ocd or bipolar though, because it happens even when i'm not having symptoms of either of those. Ugh. Diagnosis of any sort of brain condition is such a complicated thing. If only they could just shine a damn fl... |

I think I need a diagnosis to explain this problem I have (I think it's called executive dysfunction?), because it's really debilitating and I need more help from the disabilities office at my school. Does it sound potentially related to Autism? (I've been told I don't have ADHD although I'm not tot... |

It's interesting to me how many people liked elementary school. That was the worst time in my life! It probably didn't help that I went to elementary school in a very dangerous, crime-filled city. I guess the combination of being surrounded by people who were quite mean in general and not having yet... |

I love driving and I've never had any problems, but then I don't have a diagnosed autism spectrum condition. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and I just feel like I have some autictic-like traits. I did take a long time to learn to drive though, because I wouldn't do anything until I was really c... |

My high-school geometry and physics teachers are my heroes. They recognized whatever talents I may have had, even though I had a lot of problems in high school and I wasn't exactly what most teachers would have considered promising. I give them much of the credit for the fact that I am now in colleg... |

I've always found the direction-following to be the hardest part of math...I like figuring out how to solve the problems on my own. I always wished they would teach it that way--just give the class a problem and be like "you figure it out". I get impatient when it comes to following instructions. |

Hardest for me is history & current events/politics, without a doubt. These subjects seem to amount to large groups of people doing things I can't even begin to comprehend. I'm definitely missing some of the subtle nuances... (If anyone has any advice on how to understand/appreciate history I'd ... |

I know a lot of people who say they were so happy and confident in elementary school and it was somewhere in junior high or high school where they started to feel ugly/unpopular/whatever and things went to s**t. I had the exact opposite experience. Elementary school was sheer hell for me. The other ... |

I had some difficulties with math in elementary school--learning multiplication tables, etc. My elementary school teachers really emphasized memorization and that's not how I learn at all. As I got older I learned that I could visualize the computations and mathematical concepts as different kinds o... |

Hi, I'm Trissgutza. Well, actually, my cat is Trissgutza and I have adopted it as my username. So there ya go. I don't have autism or Asperger's syndrome, but a large number of my friends do. For whatever reason, I find that I relate much better to people on the autism spectrum. Perhaps it's because... |
