I was diagnosed in1985, when I was 5, with MBD (minimal brain dysfunction). It was a popular diagnosis here in Scandinavia at that time, but it's not used anymore. It's kind of like" well, we know SOMETHING is wrong in the kid's brain, but we can't specify what" The best way to expl... |

Really? There's many people out there who are non binary though. How does that become associated with autism? Well, there aren't any studies on this subject, but it's evident that gender stuff (trans, queer, non binary etc)has a link to autism, because a much larger percentage of people on the auti... |

I'm an aspie who identifies as genderqueer (outside the binary gender system). I understand your fears and worries, because let's face it, your child probably won't have it easy socially as a young person on the autism spectrum who is also playing with gender. There will be problems. Still, denying ... |

T- shirts and shorts in the summer, hoodies and jeans in the winter. I dress quite masculinely and hate overly femmy clothes. Oh and the clothes I wear outside go off the second I get home (usually they are in a pile on the bathroom floor waiting for the next day |

I can't speak for other autistic people, but for me there are a few issues with ABA. 1. It seems to me that the whole point of the therapy is to make an autistic person "normal" or at least appear "normal". This is of course impossible, because autistics funcion in a different wa... |

I realized that I was attracted to girls as well as guys relatively late, at about 25-26, after a really emotionally draining friendship with a woman with huge emotional problems, had ended. It was such a whirlwind that I realized that I had deeper feelings to her after she had "left" me. ... |

I did this as a kid (and still do, to an extent). I think there are two reasons for it: 1. over-sensitivity to certain flawors. Some food just smell or taste so nasty, or have such a nasty texture, that they are almost impossible to eat. This is NOT just normal pickiness, it really is that food that... |

So, it would have been okay for her to turn up in a onesie? :? If you're going to have a dress code at all - which you ought to, for a prom - then there is nothing wrong with having one for the guys (all guys, not just cisgendered ones) and one for the women (again, *all* women). Or, to lay it out ... |

The dog at my mental health resource place. I just can't but smile when I have about 60 pounds of dogness next to me on the couch (practically in my lap) waiting to be cuddled with. She was so funny yesterday, I was about to go to the gym and she jumped with her front legs on the couch arm and her b... |

Awaiting the DVD as I have the feeling this will be a difficult watch and not the family-friendly movie Lassetter mistakeningly billed it as. well, family friendly and family friendly. It isnt scary, like Nausicaa or Mononoke hime, but it deals with pretty hard core issues. I'm not giving the plot ... |

Has anyone seen Hayao Miyazaki's last movie yet? It comes here to Finnland tomorrow and as a huge Ghibli fan, I'm of course going to see it. It just feels a bit bittersweet, Studio Ghibli has been my biggest special interest since I saw Princess mononoke in 2001, and now everything is going to change. |
