Alcohol works for me. After a couple of bottles of wine I can go all night without even coming close. I suppose the secret is to have just the right amount of alcohol to produce the desired length of delay rather than an indefinite postponement. |

Hi Nicole and welcome to WP. I am Aspie, and I have 2 sons age 4 and 2 who are both diagnosed ASD. I also have 3 grown up children - 2 boys who I suspect are also Aspie, and a daughter who is definitely NT. The biggest problem for me is dealing with the guilt I feel that I may have passed on somethi... |

Hi Celeste and welcome. Like you my route to awareness of my AS was as a result of my two youngest sons being diagnosed with ASD. I also have 3 grown up children and I am sure the two older boys are also AS (but not their sister). As you say their and my situations were all prior to the availability... |

Hi Juliette and welcome. It is so very interesting how Aspie/Autism runs in families. I have 2 grown up sons - they and I are Aspie and we have all done very well academically (we all have first degrees and PhD's). My grown up daughter is NT (funny how ASD/AS is so much more a male thing). Finally I... |

Just keep meeting women and if it keeps failing keep trying, never give up. Or you can start looking for aspie women instead. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I lost my virginity at the age of 17, which was considered late back in the 60's. Having discovered how great sex was, I then ... |

I live alone and for me it is the best way to go. I have been married but we ended up living separate lives under the same roof. I am pretty quirky about daily routines, and I am meticulously tidy, which seems to p*ss a lot of people off. I don't particularly like having visitors either. I can't rea... |

Hi Suzie - welcome to Wrong Planet. The journal is a great idea - try to take something positive out of each day - it does not matter how small a thing it is. For the times when you are really low - look back at all those little victories and give yourself a pat on the back. Life can be very difficu... |

I agree with Fraya. I have never liked team games or any form of competition against others. I prefer to set my own targets for myself - and can get a great sense of achievement when I reach them. So my interests tend to be things I can do by myself that fit in with this general strategy - like coll... |

Wow Jester, your post has nearly freaked me out!
What you have written is so ME that I could have done the exact same words from my own experience. The only difference is that I was in my late 50's when I found out about my AS.
Best of luck with your new life.... |

While it can be comforting to stick labels on things - there are times when things are not so black and white. I know this can be frustrating to an Aspie, but in these areas there is a whole raft of conditions which seem to overlap. Sometimes it seems to depend on which so called expert you are list... |

Hi and welcome from another 58 year old. Aspies seem to be consigned to a living hell much of the time. I have been through 3 marriages and numerous other failed relationships. Also I am on my 18th job since leaving college. I live on my own it is GREAT!! However my mum's health is not so good and I... |

Hi Janicka and welcome. Like you the realisation of my AS came as an adult. It has greatly helped me to explain why so much crap has happened to me in my life. I have been married, but now find living on my own is by far the best way of maintaining the order in my life which I need. This sounds so s... |

There must be many Aspies who did the 'Test the Nation' IQ test on TV last weekend and I wondered how we all got on.
I managed 135, a bit lower than the last one 2 years ago - maybe old age is beginning to set in!! |

I display many of the Aspergers characteristics: shyness, inability to make friends, intense interests, not understanding social cues, etc etc. I'm just not sure I have any real place in this world. I have just finished university, and did a degree I wasn't really interested in. My mother (who is v... |
