When people live their lives feeling like a part of society, rather than separated from it, they have a long slog until they are even capable of empathizing with anybody who's unable to fit in. |

I cringe inside when I have to do borderline-banal small talk. There's the rub. As far as I've seen, women usually approach conversation with a Daoist approach: "It is, therefore it is." Reflexive property, yadda yadda. They love to talk for the sheer fun of it, whereas we men generally want to get... |

If you allow somebody to take the alpha/dominant role to your beta/submissive, it will happen. If you influence them to think you're the alpha, HEY, guess what? :P Now, obviously it's a lot more complicated than that, but lately something tells me that I've got it straightened out. I am 30 years old... |

A lot changed for me early last year, and it was largely because I got lucky and met a friend in the hospital where I was sent for suicide-watch. He introduced me to some friends, and they introduced me to some friends, and so on, until I was socially adept enough to introduce myself to people. Befo... |

Northside Hospital in Atlanta, 1990. A friend of mine who was also born there was actually cut without his parents' consent, so I know it was going on around that time. |

I was born in a hospital where circumcisions were performed automatically on every newborn boy, regardless of what the parents wanted--one boy born at the same hospital was even raised as a girl due to a horribly botched procedure, and another bled to death. So, even if my parents had given a damn a... |

I knew a girl about two years ago who had the same sense of humor as me, and an uncannily similar way of looking at the world. We would finish our sentences sometimes, even. Plus, she was beautiful, stupefyingly so. I tried being just friends with her, and it worked for a few months, even after she ... |

(Beware, statistics ahead; also, simplified names of Census racial categories) The mountains of coverage I've been reading about the various Presidential campaigns in Iowa has unsettled me, I believe rightfully so. Every Presidential candidate bums around Iowa for at least a month, because the voter... |

Nonstop holiday music? I feel for you, son.
You forgot how "Baby It's Cold Outside" is more than a little rapey. |

If it bothers you that much next time, just gently remind your friend that you're bored and are open to doing something, anything else. You won't necessarily ruin anything just for speaking up a bit. |

I've never really had this problem. If you're convinced you're sick, though, I suggest getting in touch with a doctor, if only to ask them their opinion about your symptoms and how long you've had them. If the word is that you might be sick, tell your parents what the doctor said and ask them to sch... |

I try to deny that I have Asperger's most of the time, but it shows. I always say just enough bizarre things to lose friends and create enemies, both in real life and online---on the last forum I was an active member of, I was literally the victim of a smear campaign by a jealous and popular friend ... |
