At that point I just sat there and shut down. it's like my head collapsed on itself. :(

My aunt I'm sure is on the spectrum and she ended up marrying a loud mouthed football player with a gambling problem. The people I end up being attracted to are usually loud and very social. Of course I get dumped in the end because I'm too quiet, not emotional enough, etc.. I've been on dates where...

I'm a woman and have been called creepy. I believe it has to do with crossing "boundaries". Boundaries are limits placed around oneself that I guess NT's seem to have and innate sense of. When you have difficulty understanding the social rules, non verbal cues, and difficulty with communication it j...

I was mercilessly bullied at school and even though I was an above average athlete, ALWAYS got picked last in team sports at school. I wonder if that STUPID "picking teams" thing ever happens anymore in school P.E. classes? It's a very cruel experience for the last few kids that are chosen. ...

This post reminded me of a youtube video I saw a couple of months ago that put "jocks" and "aspies" on the different edges of a bell curve. It explains why we have so much trouble getting along. The guy's a bit of a blow hard, obnoxious at times. and judging from the number of dislikes he's gotten, ...

[TROLL]It's only creepy if you're not attracted to their appearance.[/TROLL] OK, I did see the troll tags, but still... nope. It wouldn't be creepy for anyone to approach respectfully and say "Hey, I totally understand if you're not interested but I'll regret it if I don't even ask - would you like...

I vaguely recall reading something somewhere about people on the spectrum having an extra bounce in their step - perhaps a premature pushoff. I;m curious if anyone out there has this "bounce" in their step? My mother has it, I have it, my brother has it. It tends to become more obvious if we're exci...

I had one done for the first time 2 years ago because my mother had polyps. People warned me about the horrible drink - really, it wasn't that bad. People warned me about running to the bathroom - I just put on a movie and paused it every 10 minutes to take a bathroom break - no stress or running. A...

I'm 49 and can recall people saying I was quiet my entire life. Even when I go to a party and feel I've contributed a lot to a conversation people will ask why I was so quiet. I'm afraid that if people don't feel I contribute to the conversation I'll never get invited to parties, never get asked out...

I actually got in trouble once for bringing something to a party lol. I brought some chips and salsa, but the host had already made some guacamole, and they thought I was trying to compete with their guacamole by bringing the salsa. I guess they were kind of offended since they thought it was an in...

I find a big stumbling block for me in meeting people is lack of knowledge of social conventions. So, I would like to compile a list of social conventions that are not intuitively obvious. I'd love to learn some others before I get into more trouble. I'll start: List of Social Conventions 1. If you ...

You need to give him some leeway in how you interpret him. I have a lot of difficulty not only expressing emotion, but also defining how I feel and putting those feelings into words. That doesn't mean I don't feel emotion.... I feel plenty of emotion. I have come to accept this as an asperger trait.

I feel the same way. I don't really understand the whole dating paradigm. I just kind of stumbled into my last relationship and it worked out for 14 years. (we've since broken up) When I go to a club with friends I just dance my face off because I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do, or what the...

For me they are awkward. Back in school, girls would bully me by pretending they thought I was hot when it was really not possible then. I didn't look good til I left school I was the computer club guy. So when I do get genuine compliments they make me feel a bit sad or awkward. Sometimes I can pic...
