I just found out like two weeks ago that I'm anorexic, according to my doctor. I'm 6'1'' and only 115pounds. I've always been thin my whole life, I guess I never had much of an appetite. I have a hard time finishing food that I buy. I'll buy something that I like with big eyes, but only can eat a th... |

Anytime I can't remember someone's name, or something I need to say, I try to visualize where I've seen it written. For instance, if I can't remember someone's name and they work at my office, I'll try to visualize their cube and their name plate. For some reason that seems to work. If I have "seen"... |

I have always had troubles sleeping since I was little. Usually I only sleep a few hours a night. I had been taking Provigil for a while, but I stopped, because I have GAD and it was making it worse. Right now I take Trazodone to sleep and it helps alot. Within 30minutes of taking it I can pass out ... |

novawake, As for reading speed, that depends on MANY things! Heck, just the ability to clearly see the text could dramatically affect it. I used to read MUCH faster than I did a couple months ago Perhaps because I worked at it, etc... NOW, I read faster because I have worked at it. Hyper has NOTHIN... |

I can type fast without many mistakes, but if someone asks me where a key is I may have trouble finding it. I think typing is related to "muscle memory":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_memory I don't think much thought is involved. If I think too much it falls apart and I'll have to look. :P Try... |

The AHA says: 1. A precocious ability to read words, far above what would be expected at their chronological age or an intense fascination with letters or numbers. 2. Significant difficulty in understanding verbal language 3. Abnormal social skills, difficulty in socializing and interacting appropr... |

My doctor told me I have it, does that mean I'm diagnosed? She wrote a long paper about her sessions with me saying that I had it among other things and she signed it back when I was in high school. You might check out: http://www.hyperlexia.org/aha_what_is.html I'm not really sure what you mean by ... |

To this day, by the standards of school testing, I'm not sure if I'm smart or a dumbass. :P (take your pick) When I took an IQ test when I was in 5th grade I got a score in the 130 range. I took it again recently and got a similar score. I was also told that I read on a college level I think way bac... |

Most people, last I knew, said people should learn by age 8. Otherwise, fluency is lost. ASL and English definately have different grammer. Steve Agreed that you won't have as good fluency as a CODA(child of deaf adult) just by going to classes, it doesn't mean you can't learn good enough to be an ... |

Just the other day I listened to the same song on my mp3 for like 5 hrs straight. :P I listen to music in my head as well. I think the more I listen to a song, generally the better I can reproduce it in my head. It tends to lose some of it's temporal qualities(it doesn't play in order, or repeats pa... |

I've taken 5HTP to help me sleep with some success. I really like the sort of warm sleepy feeling it gives. Recently I'm trying a med called Provigil, but I'm not sure how well it's working. It does the opposite in that it wakes you up. When it wears off at night you get tired and want to sleep... D... |

I tend to use a lot of gestures/made-up signs, especially if I'm tired or overloaded. I've been thinking that I really should learn real sign language for those times when I can't speak/don't have the energy/can't spit it out etc. Can anyone recommend a good online source for learning sign? I'm not... |

I learned ASL (basic) to use it as a tool to help my youngest sone with language. I had read that children, in general, learn spoken language better when paired with a visual. (background a bit...he was diagnosed with autism at age 3..though I first mentioned problems to his doc around 18 months, w... |

I had taken up sign language for a few years in school (I thought I was going to be an interpreter one day). After a year or so when I got good enough to carry on a conversation, I noticed something: When I used sign, I felt alot more comfortable than when I spoke. I guess I didn't realize it until ... |

I've been on different psych meds. Ritalin(hated it/mania), Remeron(too sleepy), Lexapro... I didn't take many of them really long because I disliked the feeling of the meds more than my problems. I'm on Provigil on a trial basis now... no adverse effects yet... One thing that is always disconcernin... |
