I haven't read much fiction since I was a kid (though I'm a voracious non-fiction reader and book collector). I read lots of books with disabled characters, though I don't remember the names of the characters themselves. One of my favourite books was Mine For Keeps, by Canadian author Jean Little, a... |

I recently checked my local movie theatre website to see when Snow Cake would be coming out. They didn't list it at all under "coming soon", so I was worried it wouldn't come here. Also, I usually make my own coffee at home in the morning but today I realized I was out of coffee. So I ventured over ... |

I love this show! I've also wondered about Charlie having AS. But since he was a genius who went to an Ivy League school as a young teenager, there are definitely other possible explanations for him being socially inept and absorbed in his math world. Being in an academic environment for the majorit... |

Queen Victoria's menstrual cramps were treated with marijuana by her doctor. I get such severe cramps that no OTC painkillers will relieve them, and I'm usually up ALL night on the first day of my period. Whimpering in the foetal position, no less. Cannabis helps, but usually just enough to get me t... |

Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV) who established a monotheistic cult in ancient Egypt is thought to have had Marfan's syndrome. Some people believe it to have been henotheistic rather than truly monotheistic . (Sorry, religion geek here!) The former would mean believing that multiple gods may exist, but on... |

I've 23 and have only "dated" one person, and it was only by accident really. We awkwardly made plans via email to attend a university function together, then everyone assumed we were dating (him included). I didn't know how to end it until he broke up with me after a few weeks. We were painfully sh... |

I never talk on the phone but I love phone numbers and I remember them easily. I have chromaesthesia for numbers so I'm actually memorizing the sequence of colors, not the actual numbers, so sometimes if a 3 and a 7 are in the phone number I'll mix them up and replace one with the other as they are... |

Anyone else obsessed with phone numbers? I briefly did data entry for a phone company, and before that another job that sometimes involved entering phone numbers into a database. I began to pick up an uncanny ability to remember the exchanges* (ie, XXX where 1(555)XXX-5555 is the phone number). I ca... |

I am, though I don't know if I should reply in this section since I'm unfortunately a grown-up. I'm still a kid at heart, anyway-- does that count? Nice to see that there are other people here from Canada's Ocean Playground, regardless of age. I'd be interested in hearing about peoples' exper... |

I skipped some of this thread. I've been involved in drug policy issues for a long time, so I've had these arguments before and am not overly interested in rehashing them. Regardless of whether you like it or think it should be illegal, I'll smoke marijuana anyway. And regardless of whether I like s... |

I have trouble with TV characters. I can't keep track of the names/faces easily, especially if I'm trying to follow the dialogue as well. I never knew why, but I always preferred to have closed captioning on the TV-- I think reading the dialogue (in addition to hearing it) helps me keep track of thi... |

I've noticed that every one of my (very few) friends have been "abnormal". (Whatever that means!) The only two people I've been close to in recent memory have both been hospitalized with bipolar disorder, among other issues. It's strange to look back on your life and realise that almost everyone you... |

There needs to be another option on the poll, if only "other". I use the Keeper most of the time and consider it the single best decision I've ever made in my entire life. It's that great. I also sometimes use cute washable terrycloth pads-- so much more comfortable than whatever they make disposabl... |

Hmmm...I'm very surprised nobody has said MASH's Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly. Now THERE'S an Aspie! I was obsessed with M*A*S*H in high school. I saw every single episode at least two or three times (and some up to 10 or more), and knew most of the episode titles. I also freaked out a class when a te... |

I wonder if the one line, "you don't have aspergers" was a red herring? Since admiting it would give him justification to act worse. That's what I thought. The guy who told him that (sorry, can't remember character names) was also the same one who tried to keep another woman doctor from telling Hou... |

vivreestesperer, you just mentioned another one of the aspects of shopping that I hate most. Perfume! I hate it. I hate walking through stores and being assaulted by all the toxic fumes. (I also hate it on the bus, often to the point of needing to get off and wait 30 minutes for the next one.) I eve... |
