Uprising wrote: Is there any research article on the autism and bad trips subject?
I have read anecdotal accounts by individuals on the spectrum who have had bad trips with various substances, but I am not aware of any peer-reviewed literature or research in this area. |

I visited this forum today to post the findings summary, and I noticed that you beat me to it! May I suggest that we move this thread to the Adult Topics forum? My interest is always in putting safety first, and I would not want minors or parents to get the wrong impression about the safety of purch... |

October 14, 2012: I am interviewing and collecting survey data on the MDMA (Ecstasy) experiences of adults on the spectrum for my dissertation research. The qualitative Interviews are complete, and the data analysis and write up phase is continuing at a reasonable pace. Survey collection from the N... |

I know it's summer only in the Northern Hemisphere, but it feels as if the entire world is on vacation. Data gathering has been slow since July, so I still need 10 more survey sets from adults on the spectrum who have tried Ecstasy. (As of August 11, 2012, I have 90 completed survey sets.) The contr... |

Since February, I have been collecting surveys and personal accounts from autistic/Aspergian adults (age 21+) who have had experiences with MDMA (Ecstasy) for my dissertation research. Progress has been steady, and I have collected data from participants in 10 countries so far. The study has gone tr... |

Yes! Participants from 9 countries have submitted surveys so far, and I have interviewed individuals from six countries. Unfortunately, I only speak English, so language is a limitation. Thanks for inquiring. |

Do you still need participants, and do you know when the study will be completed? I am still enrolling new participants, and I expect data collection to be complete by July 31. You can read more about the study at: http://www.danforthresearch.com . I will require several months to analyze all of th... |

Thank you - Survey data will only be collected for participants - your survey has NOT been saved. You have completed the entire survey process. ?? Now that is confusing! I'll make an edit. The intention was to indicate to non-participants when they have reached the end of the surveys. That last sen... |

Alicia, one problem with one of the verification questions. the multiple choice option was "used ecstacy between 0 and 50 times". If someone's used it zero times there would be no point in them doing the survey. I appreciate your precise feedback. I am including data from individuals who have never... |

I think you're doing really important work here. In retrospect, my first use of MDMA was a turning point in my ability to relate to others/feel comfortable in social settings. Thank you for the feedback. I think the important first steps are collecting data and documenting accounts from as many ind... |

Since this dialog is touching on diagnostic criteria, I would like to clarify my stance a little. My work is not about seeking a "cure" for autism or AS. Instead, I am interested in quality of life issues in adults. Work I did on a clinical trial for adults with advanced cancer influenced my perspec... |

will you compare aspies who have been diagnosed prior to Ecstasy use vs aspies who have been diagnosed after Ecstasy use? it would be interesting to see whether aspies would be less likely to fit the criteria for a diagnosis after MDMA use. I will be able to make comparisons between groups, but I w... |

Hmm does the AS or autism have to be officially diagnosed? I was asked this question in another forum, so I have a rapid response for you: "Participants are asked in the research survey to confirm if they have received a diagnosis from a licensed health care professional. Individuals who do not hav... |
