Glad you finally got the diagnosis. I find it amazing how similar your story is to mine. Problems throughout school; he'd be happy and cheerful one minute, then crying or screaming the next. He's always been smart and was able to grasp the concept of things but it takes him twice as long to complete... |

My son went through something similar in kindergarten. I worried that he might have dyslexia as well and was seriously concerned about his future ability to read. He's doing fine now and is actually reading 1-2 levels above his actual grade but he still has some issues in writing (writing letter bac... |

Hello: I'm very new to this Diagnosis and new to this site. I wonder if anyone has kids that cannot control their anger? My 7 year old, dx with Aspergers and ADHD-I about 6 to 8 months ago is hitting/punching kids when he gets mad. He has seen a behavioural therapist a few times and she is recommen... |

I know this topic is a few weeks old but I just saw it and immediately thought, "Oh thank goodness, I'm not the only one!". My biggest issue is feeling like I'm starting from scratch every time we see someone new and that seems to happen a lot around here. Since we're on TennCare, our choices for ca... |

My son's very direct about things, often to the point of rudeness though he doesn't get why it's considered rude, and I've lost track off all the embarrassing things that have come out of his mouth. Three do stick out, however: 1. He asked a boy in his Jiu-Jitsu class to if he could "please take a s... |

My wife and I are both college students and Parents of two boys, age 3 and 5. I've always been concerned with my oldest boy being shy, but never considered coming across a term during my studies that almost gave me cardiac arrest... Asperger. I know, you guys are all pros at this and this all seems... |

My son's 10 and has done 3 non-family sleepovers (2 at our home & 1 at a friend's home) all with the same boy. In our case, I think the biggest reason it worked out okay is because the other boy has severe ADHD so the insensitive/blunt/rude comments that my son often makes aren't even noticed by... |

I have the exact same problem with my 10-yr-old. Everything is "I don't know" or "I don't wanna talk about it". He will occasionally tell me about something that happened at school but the majority of the time, it's like pulling teeth to get anything out of him. This is especially true when it comes... |

I just took my son off risperidone. To be perfectly honest, that drug scared me to death. My son has a history of self-harming behaviors but we hadn't seen any signs of it in over a year until they tried him on risperidone. He was on 1 mg and after 2-3 weeks he started showing signs of aggression an... |

My 10-yr-old was only diagnosed last week. Before that, he was misdiagnosed with Bipolar Disorder so he was started on meds when he was 8 due to violent behavior and daily meltdowns. Since the meds were prescribed for Bipolar, I don't know how much of this applies but I've been told that there is a ... |

I just found this forum a few weeks ago but have been just "lurking" while I waited to hear the results of my son's assessment. He's 10 years old and was just officially diagnosed with AS this week. Technically, his diagnosis is AS with depressive disorder but the general consensus is that the depre... |
