It seems like my choice is okay/right then - a child/adolescent psychiatrist who works with adults too. So far, I seem to have something to talk to him about and he asks me completely different questions than the first psychiatrist I went to who referred me to him. A long long time ago I went to see... |

The initial psychiatrist I've seen ended up referring me to a psychiatrist who specializes in children/adolescent psychology and development disorder. Is this the most suited person to treat me in your opinion? What is your experience? Have you been referred and/or what is the main area of expertise... |

I'm not a New Yorker, but I lived in Washington for some time. I sought a psychologist there, and my experience is that most insurance plans do not cover psychologists or psychiatrists in that city. Washington had a high concentration of wealthy individuals who bid up mental health services. I coul... |

The trick seems to be to find people to do things with, rather than just talk to. Mutual interests can fill in the gaps for clumsy conversationalists. Make sure to remind your counselor that you have problems to solve beyond just friendships. Some counselors who have AS clients will tend to focus t... |

Thanks for the feedback. For me, I guess I'm alone and lonely. But...... I can get fine by being alone though in recent years it becomes more and more boring and I feel like I'm missing out on things. I can also relate to a few things that were said such as being clueless - yes, even on the rare occ... |

I've been recently diagnosed as having mild AS. I live near New York (Manhattan) in the US and this posting is for people who live in this area. I have my own health insurance and not through work place. It seems that psychologist are covered only for biological related mental illness and I don't th... |

I've been seeing a psychologist for about a month and a half and he said I'm likely to have AS. He told me that this is actually not his area of expertise so I asked for a referral to another psychologist, as AS is likely to be my primary issue. The other psychologist is a child, adolescent and adul... |

Interesting topic. I noticed a while ago that I do attract "unusual" people. This is likely due to the fact that I'm not judgmental and I don't repel "weird" people like "normal" people tend to do. I did notice that gay men like me too which is a pity because I'm straight. :-) So I just take it as a... |

First off I'll say that you most definitely are a computer programmer, I'm surprised I didn't see little
and
tags scattered through your mighty wall of text. Seriously. Learn to paragraph. Anyway, looking at your story, symptoms you present and mainly that you've always felt others have so... |

Hello to all! I recently found this web site and decided to post my story in order to get some feedback. I'll start with a little bit background about myself. I'm a 35 years old man and I moved to the US about seven years ago. I've been working as a computer programmer for about twelve years now. Wh... |
