I don't know if any of you are into UFC or not but Nick Diaz seems to display some common symptoms of Asperger's. At least from my perspective. He seems to really have trouble getting his points across verbally often having jumbled speech jumping from topic to topic. He also seems to really have a p...

I don't. I don't understand why I should. I don't understand why people criticize me when I don't. When you yawn after seeing someone else yawn it isn't a conscious choice. The person who yawns after seeing someone else do it yawns automatically, even if they do not want to yawn. I think it is odd ...

I have read that autistic people typically do not yawn when others do (which is something that NT people do a lot of the time). Do you yawn when others do?

Is it possible for someone with asperger's to live a fulfilling life without pursuing friends and actively avoiding making new friends because of social anxieties? Is it possible for them to live a happy life if their only friends are those in their immediate family?

My parents made me do things exactly like this when I was a child and teenager. Telling them flat out, "I do not want to go," and "i hate it there," "the other children try to pick fights with me," etc. and receiving no sympathy, my protests falling on deaf ears. The only thing this accomplished wa...

For me, here's how it works: Socializing = stress Being pressured = stress Being pressured to socialize = more STRESS The socializing that worked for me when I was young was the socializing I chose for myself, usually associated with my interests, such as my choice to go to college, and my choice t...

For some people being forced to be around others is torture. You can't really force someone to socialize, just to physically be near others. If they can't or won't talk or just don't know how to or can't properly socialize it's not going to happen, plus that is assuming that the others they are bei...

I think that, as a 23 year old man who was diagnosed with AS at 15, my biggest regret is not trying to be more social. I sit around in my parents home playing video games all day, then sleeping, then waking the next day to play more video games, and not advancing my life. And to be fair, while I'm ...

I think we should take into account the age of the cousin in the OP, which is not stated, and I don't want to infer too much from the language used.

I have a cousin with Asperger's and his parents are trying to push him to socialize more. They are encouraging him to go to a community center of sorts for high functioning autistic young adults like himself and try to socialize. He wants absolutely nothing to do with it. He only hangs out with a fe...

A little after my son turned 2 we started to notice that he was relatively non verbal and had some signs of autism. We ended up taking him to the doctor, got him evaluated by the state, and they said that they didn't have a definitive answer for if he was or wasn't autistic but he qualified for spee...
