Both my son and I have it, and I wonder about my father. My son and I had identical childhoods, much to my dismay, but we didn't realize we were Aspies until after he went to college.

I am a systemizer - I'm female and a programmer. I can see spelling errors quickly, and visual things that don't fit in a repetitive picture with patterns, I'm good at music and languages (including programming languages) once I can understand the pattern of the chords or the syntax. I'm good at bus...

YES! I started them when I was in elementary school, actually writing out the stories, with me being a secret superhero. Later in life, I would create story arcs of my own from tv shows I liked, inserting myself into them. Or I would think of people I would like to be important to and created storie...

I'm so glad you posted this. It really made me think about why I do what I do. She and my boy friend (now my husband) tried to help me to notice when I was doing it - furrowed brow and all. Most of the time, it just means I am thinking about something, analyzing it, trying to work...

I'm so glad I found this post. So much meat here. First of all, the list of things that make people think I have an attitude problem: 1) Aspies tend to ask "obvious" questions for clarification on tasks, rules, etc, which can come off as passive-aggressive 2) They can appear insensitive when they do...

If you think 30's is late for being diagnosed, try being 47 and finally figuring it out - not only that I am, but also that my son is, and that is why I couldn't save him from living through a duplicate of my horrendous childhood, no matter what I did. I have no adult support groups where I live, so...
