I'm not on the spectrum, but another mom - I'm going to ask my 16yo what he would say - your description sounds a lot like him at that age. My guess is that the big thing is dealing with the bullying. But FWIW, reading comprehension was never a big deal, but he did (and still does) have a preference...

Also, some students find that using the organizing tools on a smart phone (calendar, to-do lists, reminder alarms) works well b/c they generally always have their phone with them.

Yes, go talk to them! If you have documented your AS and have trouble with handwriting, you should be able to get accommodations for that - extra time and/or using a computer. But what's wrong with using a computer? In "real life" no one is required to hand write anything, except maybe to sign a leg...

Have you introduced yourself to him previously, and told him you're on the spectrum? Then it would be easy(er) to say, "I don't know if I mentioned this before, but one thing I have trouble with is loud noises."

if you've got documentation, quite a few colleges will treat a single room as an accommodation that a person on the spectrum needs; go talk with the disabilities office. Also, you could ask if there's a "quiet" floor or dorm anywhere on campus - some schools have those for people who don't want thei...
