I don't have trouble falling asleep, I have trouble staying asleep. the klonopin I'm on tends to help with that, though. It relaxes my brain enough so I don't keep myself up at night. However, I have a different problem. When I do fall asleep, I go directly to REM sleep, which should be a much later...

There's been a few times when people have sent me into meltdowns. I can usually feel them coming on, but it happens very quickly. It's like I can feel chemicals in my brain. It's a strange feeling. Yes, people who do illogical things send me into meltdowns. Take my kids for instance. I end up snapp...

(He also will leap to his feet to go do something in another room, even if it's in the middle of a conversation, because "I will forget it if I don't." I have suggested he write himself a reminder note, but ah well.) This is the reason I always have sticky notes or a notepad nearby. My memor...

I had posted that very video on my blog awhile back. It describes so much about sensory overload so concisely. My meltdowns aren't quite like that, but I am definitely bothered by certain sounds. I'm also bothered by schedule changes at work. (I work 7am to 4:30pm, Tues-Fri, and it changes on holida...

We are moving to a new building at work, and my boss offered to get me LED bulbs, instead of having me keep dealing with fluorescent lighting in my office. I can't wait!!

Well, there is evidence that people that are especially sensitive to music often are very musical. It's the same for me. Unwanted noise can cause me a lot of distress, but give me a beautiful song and I'm in heaven. Where other people are often just like "yeah, I guess that's a nice song" I sometim...

The light is the worst part for me. That damn light!! I insisted on wearing my sunglasses last few times I went. They didn't have a problem with that.

Even with songs that I've already heard plenty of times. Now, do you ever listen to a song so many times it seems you'll never stop listening to it, and then all of a sudden a few days later you realize you aren't listening to it and don't really want to? What happened? Yes, I've had that happen. I...

I do the same thing, just not quite as extreme. I frequently become attached to a song or album, and simply cannot tear myself away from listening to it all the time. I could go for weeks or more just listening to the same stuff over and over again. I am also a music fanatic, and i pick apart the so...

I realized recently that I have a strange compulsion. Every single time I solve my Rubik's Cube, I reach for something to drink. If I have a drink next to me, I take a sip. If not, I'm confused for a few seconds. Thinking back, I think it's part of my puzzle obsession. I remember the last time I did...

I do love electronic music. Drum & Bass and Trance are my favorites. I am honestly not a fan of dubstep, in general. There are, however, a few dubstep remixes I've heard that I actually like, but that's about it. And, I'm sorry, but I can't stand Skrillex. I tried to get into him, but it just wa...
