While I'm not too good at dating advice (I really am just myself but I do sort of manage to not be all of myself all at once, if that makes sense? I'm not going to come in and dump all my issues at the table at the first date) I can say this: don't create an alternate persona. Really, while it might...

Very hard in what way? Mental health issues, depending (and we have a vast array of them) can cause severe to moderate to barely any issues at all when it comes to communicating, maintaining and even being able to begin a relationship. Consider that you're depressed and suicidal, burdened with the t...

First of all, good on you that you're considering therapy. Second of all, therapy is not a quick fix nor a guaranteed miracle worker. It may take a long while, it will probably go through some ups and downs, and often you'll feel like quitting and spending your money on something else. However, if y...

I prefer someone who is comfortable in their body, whatever type it is, and that they accept my body and its oddities and peculiarities instead of trying to change me against my will. That simple to me.

that they do care about is that they have something they want to do, something they love to do, and that they're not bitter. Bitter about what? Women in general? If so, I can understand that not being fun. :) It's just frustrating to sit around having to defuse someone else's angry/upset/frustrated...

Forum: Random Discussion   Topic: Is Self-Sabotage a myth or reality?

No, I don't think self-sabotage is a myth, but the amount of people who actively seek to remain miserable is probably smaller than the "world at large" assumes. I know people who revel in being miserable because it earns them sympathy, and I also know that I loathe misery above all else and work har...

That's a whole lot of generalisations regarding what girls want, and while that is the idea being preached in popular culture, the reality is that once you get away from those who subscribe to this idea, you find a lot of people who don't actually care about this. None of my female friends care if t...

My expressiveness is entirely dependent on how comfortable I feel and how much I feel that I have to fit in. When I was younger I took a lot of acting classes, and while I didn't excel at it I did learn the value of conveying the proper expression to make a point. So I exaggerate expressions sometim...

Yes – I get told quite often that I'm a spoiled little brat and it bothers me. To a degree there are some valid points to that due to family circumstance when I was child, but mostly I do want to gain a semblance of independence but it's also a balance of actually acknowledging the areas I need help...

CBT did not work well for me, and I'm averse to it, but I know that it works well with others. So... I guess it depends, if you're willing to accept that it's your thought patterns that are off and can be altered to make for a better life and increased well-being. One issue is that some CBT therapis...

I read a whole lot of fiction, but the recurring issue is that I do struggle to pick up on certain cues or themes, or sometimes completely miss subtleties or events. It's not that often though – somehow I'm much better at analyzing things when they are written rather than acted out, so to say. I lov...
