I think it might've been social embarrassing for him which makes it awkward. 1. He might think you just said that as soft rejection. or 2. He's embarrassed that a person that isn't attracted to him figured out he is attracted to her. Just be honest and direct. Clear the air. If you really want to ma...

Hi, my name is Ben and I'm looking for people (college students but anyone is welcome) bold enough to practice social skills with me. In the prime of my life, I feel I'm letting life's opportunities slip by due to my poor social skills-- and I want to do something about it! It's a topic too embarras...

I'm in a sort of mid life crisis (but at 21). I've lived an uneventful life due to my social anxiety and my therapist and I have recently both agreed that social exposure it the best treatment for it (i.e. school clubs). As a part of this, I've taken my newfound courage to get into the dating scene....

I've realized that the few friends that I had in high school have all moved on in their lives. And I also realized I was never able to really develop relationships with others due to my social ineptness. It's been 4 years in college and I still feel so isolated from people that I can't connect with ...

Hi, I'm a 21 yr old guy in undergrad. Only recently have I started to realize I was different than normal people (in regards to socializing) my entire life. I've gone to a counselor/therapist who told me to try and practice socializing with people. The only problem is I hardly know anyone to talk to...

I've been smoking marijuana for the past years, and the drug's known for stimulating the emotional parts of the brain. I'm definitely not trying to advocate using it, but I honestly felt like I saw a glimpse into how normal people use their social skills; when I'm high, I'd watch people on TV and pe...

***I meant "How often do you think of embarrassing social moments?" in the poll I've always had to deal with really embarrassing/awkward moments when it comes to socializing due to my ineptness (I never notice them until in retrospect). I tend to say not only things that people don't care about but...

I'm around 21 but when I look at how other 21 year olds act and talk, I feel sorta like a kid still. Is this something that AS people go through?

Ever since I've been told by a friend that I might have AS a year ago, I've slowly learned to look at myself and see how I interact and treat others (which has helped a lot). But still, I was very dismissive of the idea and at the current moment, I'm really unsure if I just have serious social anxie...

I'm not sure if it's my social ineptness or something else from my upbringing but I realized I have this embarrassing habit of overly trying to get people to like me. Whether it's trying to act smart, or showing off with my guitar, I end up looking more foolish and weird. Since I've realized that I'...

Sorry, ya I did. Was just wondering if people didn't really notice their AS symptoms until they realized they had AS. I feel like I'm a mentally challenged person who didn't know I was challenged for 20 years. I know most AS people realize they're different as they grow up but I just seemed to not p...

Hi, I was wondering for the people who were diagnosed with AS at older ages (20+): Did you notice your AS symptoms before your realization/diagnosis? When? I am 21; I am not diagnosed but a few people have suggested I might have AS (one from a "friend" who had AS). I dismissed it at first but lookin...

I have AS. I never really thought about it until now but I realize that i'm never going to be a veterinarian. That's my problem. I can't see all the dumb things I do until I'm looking at it in retrospect. My parents are getting old. They've made a secret life insurance on them with my brother and i ...

I think I can relate. My brother says I was a brat as a kid.. and I think so too know thinking back. I never really made friends as a child (I didn't notice at the time). Maybe I was too pampered or spoiled. Even still at 21 years old, my thoughts are always revolving around the goal of impressing p...

I think they call it the Dunning-Kruger effect, a cognitive bias in which your incompetency in something actually hides your incompetency by creating an illusion of superiority. Not gonna lie, that was exactly me, reflecting back on my life in school... It's a really weird feeling realizing that it ...
