Nah. I have good reason to be angry. I used to turn that inward and hate myself, and now I've started to hate those who are responsible. Your idealism is very nice and all but I'm not bound to it, nor am I Hitler because I'm angry (there's some logic there). I agree. I used to blame myself for ever... |

I used to be very much obsessed with glam metal. I wanted to own every single album ever released and read about every musician who was ever in a glam metal band. These days I listen to other genres (mostly 60's music) but I'm less obsessed with music than I used to be, I have other interests now. |

The problem with this thread is "hippie types" are not hippies, they are posers. The people most of you are talking about are douche bags. 25 years ago I was going to people's park in Berkley (when it was still a public park) and hanging out with the real hippies. I was NOTHING like them but they a... |

I like the cold better than the heat. It's summer here and I find myself longing for winter. As long as it stays dry I love winter. The lack of sunlight can affect my mood though, that's probably the only thing I don't like winter. I never really connected this with autism though, and I don't see an... |

I've never really had more than 10 friends and right now I have less than 5 which I don't even see that much. I've had a few girlfriends in psychiatry but they weren't exactly faithful and they were pretty much batsh!t crazy. I've never really had a date. I'd really like to have one, but the few tim... |

I feel like I don't fit in with people my age at all, especially males. I usually hang out with women because they're a bit more mature, but certainly not all of them. I don't really know where to meet older people though. Most of them probably wouldn't be able to regard me as a friend either. I'm c... |

I do, but I wish I didn't. I seem to remember that I didn't feel like hanging out with other people during my childhood. I did see a few friends during vacation but I didn't really care if I didn't see anyone for a long time. When I hit puberty, I started to feel the need to get more friends. Unfort... |

I used to, it's a defense mechanism, probably because you've been hurt in the past and do not understand the way NTs operate. Anger can then turn into envy and depression, so maybe it is better to be mad. Sometimes I feel like I hate every human being I meet and I have also considered this is proba... |

I think there are very few, it's not exactly something most aspies would be good at I think. In that sense you must be pretty unique. I was wondering how you got into it? Since you're going for mayor I assume you must be running a campaign? What that like for you? It's not something I'd expect an as... |

When I came here I was surprised how many people have meltdowns. I don't think I've ever really had one, at least not in the sense that other people would notice it. I get angry quite easily but I have a great deal of self-control and manage to restrain myself most of the time. Sometimes I feel the ... |

I tend to think that people with disorders in general are not adapted well to the environment. If survival of the fittest fully worked in the modern world there would probably be less people with disorders and they would suffer even more. Fortunately, most of mankind realizes nature is a cruel thing... |

I have thought about this many times and have considered the argument of your relative as well. It's probably true that my family would never become my friends if they weren't family. But I think that's the strength of the family, they always stick together even if they consist of very different peo... |

I wonder what kind of partner would be ideal for an aspie. I don't know about aspies dating other aspies, the advantage would be that aspies probably understand each other better yet there would probably be problems as well + bigger chance of children having autism as well. Occasionally I've met som... |

My main reason to stay alive is to surpass NT's in every possible way (of course social skills wouldn't be included). I'm one of the best students in my year and I love to rub it in people's faces. Only when they deserve it though, there are always a few genuinely nice people I respect. But outperfo... |

I started a thread on this a few days ago and concluded that aspies seem to have varying degrees of empathy raging from very little to almost equal to NT's in certain aspects. I think sympathy means you actually take over the person's feelings, while empathy means you can imagine what it must feel l... |
