The problem I am having trouble understanding is that I am STILL changing events just by being there. The only way this could be different is if everything was like a 'shadow' of the past like in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol where Scrooge goes back in time. |

It's good to know that when someone in the future invents a time machine and comes back to sell it on eBay, no one will be able to use it until the time in which it is originally invented and been used has passed as then it would no longer be the first time jump when it has already happened. The pro... |

NO! Great minds argue over wether or not the glass is half full or half empty! I know this because my entire family consists of Great minds and they could not be more alien from one another! My Brother, he is an optomist. He says the glass is half full. My Sister, she is a pessimist. Always argues t... |

I didn't mean to imply otherwise NeantHuman, I was explaining my cobbled together theorum on how it develops in the Autistic population.
NTs develop it because God/Krishna/Allah/Guedi/Zues/Odin/Tupac/Elvis/Fate/Bill Gates is punishing them. |

It actually confirms everything I've ever expected about Autism and it's relationship with the co-morbid bi-polar disorder. Autistics crave self-imposed routines, NTs often go out of their way to break these as 'appropriate spontaneoty' is seen as better. Autistics then develop bi-polar chemical imb... |

I have to this point never met another diagnosed Aspie, but plenty of diagnosed Autistics and undiagnosed Aspies and Autistics. I have never worked out the difference. There are still too many talking heads paying lip-service "Well Autism is very complicated and misunderstood" whilst at the same tim... |

I'm not a terribly big fan of SBC myself but I do feel I have to enforce fairness and clear up some things as people have drawn inaccurate conclusions about his work. For those of you who are offended by the idea that male and female brains ARE different, please do a websearch for David Reimer, the ... |

Whatever happened to that guy who played Egon? I know he has co-written loads of stuff with Ackroyd but only ever starred in Ghostbusters. |

Yes, I definately thought there was always something about Dan Akroyd. The way he either under-acts or over-acts. I think back to the Blues Brothers and the conversation Elwood and Jake have in the car and Elwood(Akroyd) is so very Aspie about it. He traded in the original blues mobile for a microph... |

Stop the press!
Another possible source for the 'Steven Spielberg is an Aspie' is Dan Akroyd who specifically said(and it's confirmed) that he himself has Aspergers on a radio talk show, he reportedly also mentioned off-air that Spielberg has aswell. |

I do remember two world wars and numerous conflicts and childish name-calling in the British parliament; the NTs certainly do not understand each other as much as they pretend. There are some things we miss that are socially significant: Autistic children prefer the company of adults over their peer... |

I hope those rich people didn't pay for their education; they've been conned. You may be confusing manners with mannerisms, which are different, but I don't know. What you refer to is the the Aristocratic social method which alienates the lower classes and worked for some centuries in Europe until t... |

I must warn strongly against criticising a caricature of the nature of ettiquete. Really? I'd have never thought it wrong to do either one of those things. And I would never say "Yes I can come to this" in public and "No I can't" in private, and can't imagine very many autistic people who would do t... |

I thought that the reason there were communication difficulties in autism is because our brains are wired up differently ie. we don't have as many connections. We have to work a lot harder to integrate all the information we get from the outside world and our inner world. It is like having a really... |

Danlo, that make sit even less clear than before. I can't tell you if my post looks like it's making the point you say it did because you're never very clear about what that point supposedly is. Noone's disagreeing that deaf people have deficient social skills too. Its why they immediately do a hear... |
