Don't worry, if the woman cares about you she'll be patient. Someone you're friends with first or that you've been seeig for a while, so that some trust builds up, might be best as she's more likely to be patient and kind. You've nothing to lose anyway! Er...you know what I mean! And you're not that...

Well, both frieds are very stubborn. One thinks I'm a classic victim of abuse who justifies everythig the man does and other thinks I'm infatuated and couldn't possible LIKE his personality. Both are wrong in my view but we'll see how it goes with time. Maybe when your fried meets your boyfriend she...

I think he felt trapped befor...

And I just want to add that I wouldn't even call him an aspie now. Now that I know him intimately I've stopped labelling him that way or thinking of him as 'different'.

Hi, some time has passed during which I've learnt a lot and I wanted to add a postscript for anyone looking for advice here on this issue. In relation to my fears that this man might be of a violent disposition, they remain unfounded. He is possibly one of the gentlest people I know. The couple of '...

Hi Lorann, What you're saying makes a lot of sense to me. My best friend just sees him as weird and awkward. She hasn't spent much time trying to get him know him, and I think if she did she might appreciate the many great traits he has. And believe me, I've learnt to very careful who I let in to my...

I showed my aspie boyfriend The Big Bang Theory last night and he thought it was funny and realised that Sheldon was a bit of an exaggerated stereotype of many of his own traits. It's important that people don't just think of Asperger's in terms of made-up, one-dimensional comedy characters. However...

That can't be easy for your sister and her boyfriend. I don't think my friends are jealous, per se - I think one is prejudiced because she doesn't understand his personality, and the other, who likes him otherwise, is frightened he's abusive though there isn't much evidence of that.

Thanks! He's really not the villian he sounded like when I was upset. He's not perfect either, but who is? It's just when you show people who car eabout you how upset you are it leaves a permanent effect, a prejudice against the one 'responsible'. Hopefully time will tell.

I'm in a new relationship with one and we're getting on great! There was one wee indicident (I mentioned here) where our personalities clashed but it seems like we understand each other even better now. Anyway, these men can't be defined solely by their Asperger's, at the end of the day they're all ...

He doens't seem to mind me kissing him at all now and it's wonderful! But certainly, in the beginning he didn't like me playing games or trying it on with him.

When he was a child. I don't think he's abusive though, I think he has issues dealing with emotions but he's fine 98 per cent of the time. Nobody is perfect, though I'm pretty sure I wouldn't tolerate an abusive partner. My last boyfriend could be verbally abusive and I 've known this fellow a long ...

Hey, I already started a thread a couple of months ago and I hope noone minds if I start a new one but I'm wondering how people cope with their friends not accepting their boyfriend/girlfriend?! I said in the 'kissing' thread that I had a falling-out with the aspie man I'm seeing because he got upse...
