Ok Cubedemon, that went just a bit over my head!! ! I absolutely appreciate you taking the time to let me into your world somewhat though!! As for my nephew getting on disability, I would guess that when the day comes and he decides to accept the Asperger's, and then goes to get an official diagnosi...

Thanks so much Cubedemon6073. Your name makes me quite curious! Not asking, just that it says so little yet so much! Lol! As I said, I too think that his denial is not good, but unless someone else comes along to convince him, he is truly one of those that will not except Aspergers. My sister is so ...

I understand that it could be quite insulting to use the term "nuts" in regards to this situation, especially if you are an aspie, but in no way did I mean it in that way!! It is a "term of endearment" my sister and I have used throughout the years to describe her son and husband just to get us past...

Sorry guys, I don't know how to do the "quotes" thing! I"m really not computer savvy by a long-shot!! !! I would like to ask Cubedemon6073 what he means when he says that my nephew denying the Asperger's could be dangerous territory? I agree with you, I just want to know what your definition of that...

Hey guys, I appreciate all the advice and the critiques. I do understand that you all are just getting my side of the story, and I would love for him to tell you his side, except, HE IS INSULTED IF YOU MENTION HIS I NAME AND ASPERGER'S IN THE SAME SENTENCE!! !! I have done a little bit of reading on...

Hey, Look Twice, you said it, I didn't. I love my nephew, but yes, at times he can be a terrible person. A lot of us can be. He has seen a couple of therapists and when the Asperger's thing came up he immediately dismissed it and called it quits on the therapy. In reading about this I have found out...

Well, I will just say this about my nephew, who I will call "T" from now on. He is in COMPLETE DENIAL of having Asperger's, and in fact was insulted that anyone could consider for half a second that anyone with his vast intelligence could be anywhere on the autism spectrum! He really feels that he i...

I have gotten help from you guys before and I hope you can give me some advice again! I have a 24 year old nephew that has Asperger"s but is in TOTAL DENIAL! Right now he has his feet firmly planted in what Dr Tony Attwood calls the "god complex", he says that no one is as smart as he is, and that w...

Thank you so very, very much for your insight on this!! ! The analogy about the swimming pool definitely gave me a way of thinking about it like I had not before. The hard part now will be convincing his Mom, my sister, to let him just blow off some steam when he is having a meltdown! Lol! She is no...

I have a nephew that has Asperger's, though he is in denial of it. He is 24 years old and he has very occasional "angry outbursts" that I call "meltdowns". My question is, how should these meltdowns be handled, especially in an adult with Aspergers? Should we argue back? Try to talk louder than he d...
