I have a 3 year old that 3 weeks ago was evaluated and either has autistic traits or is on the spectrum somewhere (still not sure what it all means). I had him evaluated by the school district (I am in the USA) and the benefit of having him evaluated is that he is now qualifies for therapies that I...

As in, I'm not sure whether to say anything to the doctor about it, he's only three and his nursery don't have any problems with him (although he is obnoxiously well behaved there!) I'm not even sure if he is or not but I don't want him to struggle at school etc. if he is. With two parents on the sp...

Much as there are times I wish I lived alone, the reality is that I just don't function when I live alone, I need someone on hand to make sure I eat, get out of bed, go to work etc! I currently live with my aspie partner and our son. It's the child situation I struggle most with, he is totally relia...

I do this all the time, either practising future conversations or going over old ones (and yes, I will re-write this post in my head several times!) I've just realised that my son does this as well and we both specifically do it in the shower, I think it's something to do with sensory seeking, we ca...

I think everything you listed could be taken as stimming except maybe talking to oneself. A lot of people (including myself) do that to help organize their thoughts, and to remember something, like a short grocery list, when they go to the store. There is nothing wrong with that kind of talking to ...

I don't have a single special interest, but I do become obsessed with certain things, the obsession will take up all my spare time for a period that can be anything from days to months, then one day I will wake up and be over it. I do have a special affinity for fantasy/sci fi worlds, at least once ...

All the time, M calls it me going away with the fairies, he's convinced that one day I won't come back!

I'm not blank though, usually I'm off into my own little world when I either can't or don't want to deal with the real one.

The inability to step outside a situation and look at it logically and the way they will discount the best solution for a problem because it's "not the done thing." I get very frustrated when someone asks for advice and I give a great solution (problem solving is my thing!) but they're like "oh, I c...

Hello, I'm new here. I'm nearly 27, shacked up with a man who also seems to have aspergers and our three year old boy who shows no discernible signs of AS so far. I'm undiagnosed, several months ago I was having a debate on another forum about whether ADHD exists, it became apparent that I may actua...
