Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: what does a idiot mean to you? do people think ur one?

To me, an idiot is one who is of low intelligence. Also used in the context of one who makes poor choices despite being obvious (perhaps only to the observer) that these choices would have unwanted consequences. Many people have called me this, though not anyone who has ever spoken to me for any mea...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: What was school like for you? Did your teachers like you?

I don't have many earlier memories but I know that I was universally hated by any teacher I had at high school. I was just so incredibly bored and a public school teacher has no interest in dealing with anyone who doesn't fit into their regular bell curve. People I've spoken to more recently often h...

As a man, I am overly masculine in my body language and movements. Someone asked me if I was gay because my house is tidy and I'm not married.
There are lots of reasons that people can get the wrong impression. It seems to depend more on their bias than anything I do.

I have done a lot of international travel recently. Being prepared is definitely key but the first post definitely covered that. I have long legs so I would always get exit row seats. I had a very good routine to get onto the plane at the start of boarding by just being in the correct place at the r...

I really like driving and riding a motorcycle. I like machines. I was very anxious when I was learning to drive back when i was 12 but after I got used to it I really enjoyed it. It helped to learn to drive somewhere not stressful (on a farm). I imagine very quiet streets and driving schools are goo...

Thanks! I actually do have a question, I hope you might be able to answer. What's the best way to make friends in a new country, if you don't know anyone beforehand. Work-colleagues? Neighbors? Or just random people you meet around the city? I don't know any neighbours here really so I've been goin...

One of my friends has this problem. I would just try to remind him that it was late / people were sleeping / that he was being really loud. I do not have this problem. I speak in a low register (which doesn't sound as loud) and I make a point of waiting for other people to stop talking before I star...

I think this whole thread is just an indication that people should travel more and live in other countries for a while.

There are good and bad people everywhere. Go out, meet some, and come to your own conclusions.

(I am not from the USA, I just live here now)

I feel weird about responding to this and if you've already got your volunteers you can just ignore me. I had never heard of your product but was able to google some videos. I just wanted to suggest that you might have more luck if you described in more detail the physical sensations that the produc...

I feel like I should have a lot to say on this. I grew up in a small town in rural Australia, and now I live in San Francisco (and I was in L.A. for a few months before that plus a lot of time spent in Tokyo). I moved away and lived on my own first to attend university when I was 16. At the end of t...

I find animals a lot easier to read than humans. Pet's motivations seem a lot less complex.
Given a choice, I would rather meet new cats and dogs than people.

As ErzaS said, any kind of headphones can mask the noises if you know it's going to be fairly constant somewhere (like people on a bus or any kind of *shudder* crowded room). They seem to be more socially acceptable than covering your ears or wearing obvious earplugs. With the inner-ear headphones y...

I'm a foreigner living in the USA. I'm hoping that someone else is going to jump out of a cake and yell "Surprise! These were just joke candidates for the sake of entertainment. Vote for me instead!" Otherwise I at least have the option of going to a different country.

My idea was to always be listening to music. That may not be a good idea for everyone.

I kinda find it funny that your name includes "Yankee" and you're telling us about physical strength. One thing I have noticed in this country is how insanely easy it is to get a gun.

Anyway. Have fun with that?

What did you tell them? Maybe that was an invitation for a really big night on the town?
