Well, Astronomy and Chemistry require mostly high school math skills, with Astronomy being a bit more math-heavy. How do you figure? I work primarily with Chemists and they all have - at a minimum - at least Calc 2. A lot of them are a class or two away from a math minor. This doesn't mean the OP c...

I'm an administrative assistant in the US and part of my job is receptionist duties. It IS hard, but doable. I didn't know I was AS till long after I started working here but it was like all of a sudden, when I found out I had AS, something "clicked" that explained why certain parts of my job were h...

Bullying would be if he intimidated you to get you to change shifts or made fun of you for why you wanted to take Saturday off. This is just normal jerkface behavior - not bullying. It still doesn't feel good, though. I wouldn't do favors for him anymore, obviously, and I would ask your boss if they...

This is a bit of an odd situation - but aren't they all? I've worked as an administrative assistant for the same person - a woman we'll call Jane - for 7 years. I generally like her a lot. She's about 17 years older than me and I don't have a good relationship with my mom so sometimes I wonder if I ...

Sorry - I probably should have done a search! I just feel like he "gets it" - I could say, "Yes, I have the evening free. I would rather spend it alone than with you - not because I don't care about you, but because I'll be a better girlfriend (and happier overall) if I can have some time to myself....

I'm curious if the idea of two people with AS dating is a good idea or a really, really horrible idea? We're both moderately AS - we can function, but we're obviously a little "odd" to people. We've both had relationships before with NTs and part of the reason they didn't work out was that the NTs m...

Do i maintain the lie or come clean? Come clean - and tell her why you did it. To be honest, I'd be much more upset if it were the other way around (a guy said he was a virgin and wasn't). If you've known each other that long and been together that long, I think she'll understand. This also means y...

I'm in the process of getting set up for neuropsych testing (of which, AS will be one of the things they test for). A few years ago I got an IQ test to check for learning disabilities. I did really well on most things, but my psychomotor processing skill percentile was fairly low compared to everyth...

As a female, if I responded how that young woman responded, it would imply I might be a bit curious about him - I don't call people smart if I don't mean it! It means she's noticed you, and given her messages, SHE doesn't think you're any of the things you say you are. So, give her a chance to maybe...

My guess - and it's only a guess - is she's afraid you are AS and knows she has no experience with it.

Is there a chance you can change therapists? If she's not listening to you - and it's part of her job to listen to your concerns - then why are you paying her so much money to annoy you?

I'm curious as to see if anyone here was misdiagnosed prior to getting an ASD diagnosis? I got diagnosed with ADHD and OCD about 7 years ago but much of what my symptoms are could be explained by AS. Impulse control? Obsessions with people? Yup. Anyone else go into the ASD diagnosis being diagnosed ...

I like sleeping with someone I'm comfortable with. I'm a bit of a snuggler, actually, given the right circumstances.

Also - a few of you mentioned snoring - have you been checked for sleep apnea? I got diagnosed a few years ago and it's changed my life for the better! :)

So, fat girl chiming in here. I'm probably around the size, or a bit larger than the picture posted earlier. I'm mobile, even somewhat athletic (I did a sprint distance triathlon last year), but I'm certainly fat. My BMI is above 45 and I'm considered morbidly obese. I'm on Weight Watchers now but i...

I haven't told many people but to be honest I often feel the urge to tell them. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed about my condition, its simply part of who I am. The only thing that stops be from telling everyone is that I know most people don't understand anything about autism and I don't want peopl...

My grandmother is always going on about stuff like that. She once told me that my sister should cook me a nice meal. The last time I was up there she mentioned some song by Jerry Lee Lewis "Get into that kitchen and rattle them pots and pans! Get into that kitchen cause I'm a hungry man!" I find it...

I'm in the process of being diagnosed, but since the symptoms read like a laundry list of my characteristics, I feel it pretty likely I'll be diagnosed. I've talked to two co-workers I'm close to about it. One of them said I couldn't possibly have it, and then described it in a way that is totally i...
