The one real problem I see with this change is that many NTs do not do a good job of discriminating between things like High and Low function - They hear Autism and they think Rainman! This can be a real problem for those on the lightly touched end of the scale and will remain so into the next coupl... |

I have been real picky about the shoes and socks I put on my feet. I absolutely refuse to wear cotton socks -- Acrylic nylon mixes only - originally I purchased Burlington socks but when they became unavailable I switched to a goldtoe similar type which now has moved production to china - much poore... |

I have a hard enough time socializing with non-Aspies. Maybe your problems with NTs is that they demand that you behave just like them and understand them and their brains work so different from yours that you must struggle to just make the minimum connection. Maybe just maybe - you will find asper... |

Sounds a little like you may have dyslexia it is often co-morbid with both AS and HFA - and it can play havoc on reading and writing abilities - which can spill over into other mental processing. Both my brother and I have dyslexia and we both have and have had problems with processing the written w... |

With so many disadvantages to having A.S. that reduce an Aspie's chances for "Dating & Mating", it is a wonder that any intelligent person would think that A.S. is an advancement in evolution. First off --- you are assuming that being Asper is and has always been a disadvantage - you are making... |

You know you are an Aspie when.... When your family knows what you are having for dinner by which restaurant they decide to go to. When the waiter takes everyone's order except yours - and you still get wanted to eat. When a restaurant manager admits that they keep a couple of Halibut stakes (or wha... |

IQ testing is not so straight forward as suggested by this discussion. Depending on what you are testing IQ tests can give wide ranges of results when taken by people on the spectrum. In the 1950s IQ tests were very simple things often testing something like problem solving ability or math abilities... |

Here is my take on this if every so-called psychopathic murderer is autistic then that would mean autistic children worldwide should be locked up permanently right at this moment. Mind you, I was simply being sarcastic yet, I don't feel that any/all psychopaths have Asperger for, I find this absolu... |

My son made it to just about 3-1/2 as non-verbal in much the same way as you describe - at that age he mostly babbled with just a few understandable words thrown in (we called it Trentonese as it almost sounded like he was speaking some unknown language mostly because of how seriously he went at it)... |

That's a pretty good outcome. Around half in relationships (it's under that now), two-thirds working (it's far below that now), and they're happy enough (it seems to be far, far below this now); albeit, they're doing the stereotypical things with electronics and art (which there's nothing wrong wit... |

After reading the article and doing some research on ABA treatment I found that as always we can't tell a D@@@ thing because of flaws in the studies. First off I could not find a true random selected study in the bunch. What I found small group "studies" that went something like this - "we took some... |

I want to be cured because having AS makes me miserable. I don't fit with the NTs or Aspies. I can't usually related to other Aspies. A lot of people here seem to be proud of their AS. I want to be NT because I want proper relationships. I don't think anyone actually likes me. The people who claim ... |

I have lived alone in the past -- once for about 5 years. Other times a year or two - but have been married then divorced and am now married with a son thus not living alone now with family -- Once I spent about 7 years living in a group setting - where people came and went as they liked interacted ... |

Aspie or not, what he did was inexcusable. He knew right from wrong; he knew exactly what he was doing when he went in and shot the children and the adults. Did He? He may have been truly insane and have no idea of what he was doing - or a psychopath and had no ability to understand the effects of ... |

Once again - a total miss understanding of Asperger's and empathy. There are 3 main types of empathy but Aspergers only have problems with one of them: * Empathic Concern (Sympathy) * Affective Empathy (feeling the pain, sorrow, love etc of others - what most people call empathy) * Cognitive Empathy... |

Socialism/leftism, especially of the more totalitarian variety, forces people to be more tolerant of differences, like autism spectrum, because associations are forced rather than free. When you're forced to be around people with differences, and less able to form your own groups, then you become m... |
