I've read a few articles today regarding SAP - Apparently the positions filled by Specialisterne were for code testers rather than those higher up the food chain such as programmers and system architects. It would be so wrong for Aspies to be seen as checking automatons rather than creative creatures.

Why do so many totally incompetent people have good jobs? Because they are regarded as 'having one eye' in the land of the blind, and are thus made king :( The rest just have even less clue about what is really going on, everything is relative, etc. Have a look at this link to the Peter Principle -...

I think antidepressants have saved me. I've found Paroxetine really helpful. It seems to prevent the big ups and downs and really helped me with anxiety, panic and getting violently angry with things (although not people!) . I've upped my dosage to 40mg a day which has made a real difference. Plus ...

i've long been partial to 6 meter. i like the idea of using the MUF for extended propagation. but mostly i love dx-ing am/fm broadcasts, used to love picking up distant analog vhf NTSC as well, 'till the FCC screwed up and replaced it with the very un-robust ATSC, which is a LOT harder to dx. Condi...

I'm in the UK and my GP put me on 20mg of Paroxetine a day - I found that upping it to 40mg really has made a significant difference to my mood. I don't get the deep highs and lows that I'm used to and it's also helped a great deal with panic disorder and anxiety. It buggers up your sex drive and ca...

Hi, I get the impression that there are a number of people on here who are fellow radio amateurs No need to give callsigns, but I'd be interested in where you are, favourite bands / modes and equipment you run... I'm mainly into Olivia on 60m - main HF radio is the FT-2000D (Which most of the time r...

My biggest problem right now with depression is the job problem. I have a degree in graphic design, made sure I varied my skills to cover a lot of ground, and got really good, but nothing pans out. Years of sending out resumes and portfolios. Years of building skills, and reaching out, and networki...

Sorry to hear about your negative experience with this person. I gave up on counselling and psychotherapy years ago - they aren't me, they don't know me and they don't know what's going on in my mind. I reached the conclusion that the only person that can sort out my own feeling is me and spending t...

I'd suggest reading "The Peter Principle" - it gives a good insight into the hierarchy of the modern working culture

To the C*** who fired me when my wife was ill. Had you died in a car crash before you hired me, you would have saved me a lot of pain and financial problems. I hate you with a complete, vitriolic, gut-felt hatred that I feel for no-one else I have met. If I bump into you at an event STEER CLEAR OF M...

I find helping other people helps me a lot. A mate of mine has Cerebral Palsy and spent Saturday putting him a CV together and registering him on a number of job-related websites which gave me a great feeling of self-worth. I've always found helping others has improved my mood and I think it's somet...

I took a chip last night in front of 300 people acknowledging that I am an aspie. Afterward several people asked what AS is and how does it affect me, 1 person was telling me traits in himself and his children. I was shaking like hell when I walked to the podium and for about 20 minutes after that....

I've had a couple of interviews which have gone very well and I've got another on Tuesday. In the UK it's normal to be asked to fill out an induction form which asks if you have any disabilities etc. I'm HFA and people tend to either like me or loathe me - I am quirky and can be up-and-down but I ha...

The more the s.h.i.t. the stronger and more resiliant you become. People let you down, the closer you allow them to become, the more the pain and you get to a point that you can let people into your life expecting the inevitable let-down. Judging peoples behavior is a very strong social skill. Not ...

My wife has always thought that I am on the spectrum and wasn't surprised and my scores; she lives with me and accepts how I am.

I've mentioned that I'm HFA to an ex-colleague and she said that she wasn't surprised in the least - her Uncle is an Aspie and I remind her a lot of him.
