I was thinking the same thing, KenG. Since Tara became a Patron for Speur-Ghlan prior to her official diagnosis, she may be interested in becoming more involved now. She could reach out to many people that would otherwise not be following Autistic rights issues.

I watch the same movies and shows over and over, even though I have all of the details memorized. It is so incredibly soothing. I will watch a movie every night before I go to sleep. If I have to watch it multiple times before I doze off, I will. When I doze off during the movie, the next night I ju...

I can't manage a trip to Autreat or Autscape this year, but I would like to attend in the future. In the meantime, I'm hoping that Alex's festival will take place in Los Angeles or San Francisco, which would be easier for me to plan around. All of these events sound great!

I always walk on my toes when barefoot, in socks, or in flat shoes. But almost all of my shoes are high heels, so it always duplicates the feeling of walking on my toes. In fact, people often ask me how I can always wear high heels and they don't seem to believe me when I tell them it's more comfort...

In reply to the original post: My diagnosis took a couple of visits with a good doctor that included discussions about my childhood traits (including input I've received from my mom) up through my adult traits, test results, and me bringing in pie charts, spreadsheets, and three pages of typed examp...

I recieved my official Aspie diagnosis today (39 yr old) and although I was told I most likely had it before going through all the testing, it really hit me seeing the diagnosis in writing. It's really odd. I knew In my heart I was an Aspie, I was told I was an Aspie, but now that its official, I'm...

I've done this my entire life. I repeat patterns of numbers, words, phrases, and/or tunes over and over in my head. When it's numbers and phrases I will accompany them with tunes. Sometimes I end up humming the tunes or singing the patterns out loud. And sometimes I actually take these patterns and ...

I didn't find that very stressful. At least there weren't many other people all in your way (unless there might have been when you weren't videoing). I find supermarkets more stressful when everybody goes up one aisle at once, and you are trying to get past one another and wherever you stand you're...

I chew on pretty much everything, too. I chew on my fingernails, my fingers, pencils, pens, pretty much anything that I might have to hold in my hand for any reason. I've always done this. My parents say that when I was a toddler I chewed the varnish off the coffee table. I also chewed on the coffe...

I also ramble on about my special interests and cannot read the social cues of others as to when to stop. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just ignoring their social cues because I'm over-excited about getting the opportunity to talk about my interests. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I know how t...

Yes...since I was a child. I have various stims, not all of them are obvious, but it seems as though each has been noticed, pointed out or asked about at some time.
