Safety boots. All year round. Worn with long skirts which apparently messes with some people's ideas about gender presentation. I'm just not going to wear uncomfortable shoes. Ever. The boots I get (Airside) are incredibly comfortable and I can walk all day in them without any foot trouble. I buy ex...

So I went ahead and talked to my therapist. She doesn't specialize in anxiety issues (that was just what I happened to be seeing her for) and has a good understanding of AS so far as I can tell. I think I'm getting on well in the sessions, but it's a first for me having someone to talk to who doesn'...

Thank you both for your input! :) I'm very aware that this isn't a problem for most people, they might be self-conscious but not to the extreme that I am. However, part of my long journey from serious depression to self-acceptance has been the recognition that I'm not like most people (I may still b...

Well, I don't want to come across as a hypochondriac or diagnosis hunter - I want to be as sure as it's possible to be before I bring it up. I do score as being on the spectrum in every online test I've tried. I guess posting here was one more way of looking for a balanced view. :)

Fixed for you, and they don't actually disagree with your point one, the issue for them is about personhood rather than mere life. Please don't alter my wording if you're going to quote me. Point taken about personhood, though. There doesn't seem to be any generally accepted point at which the pro-...

All the more reason not to use the term "pro abortion" because thats an even bigger emotional distortion. They arent "pro abortion", theyre anti laws against abortion- big difference. You might call them "abortion realists". Or just call them pro and anti choice so folks know what you're talking ab...

For background: I work with 3 year old children and part of my job involves running socialization groups for shy kids and those with various kinds of special needs. In a way this is terribly ironic given how bad I am at socializing with peers; however, I feel that it gives me additional insight into...

I'm a woman, ruveyn.

Meems, I used pro/anti abortion as neutral terms to discuss the issue at hand. I find both pro-life and pro-choice to be overly emotive terms that twist the issue - after all, the people holding the opposing views aren't against life or choice as concepts!

I watched this show as a kid and read the books too. It was one of my first introductions to SF and I loved it! Ashka was my favorite TV villain for a long time. I think it would work very well as a crossover with Stargate (if I remember correctly, there were 'gates' of some sort to cross between th...

I know some people who are uninterested in the campaign for gay marriage as they believe marriage as an institution is outdated anyway, and so inclusion in it isn't worth fighting for. That's not the same as being against it, though, I guess. I'm a woman who is against abortion. I don't want to get ...

Hi everyone, I've known of the existence of AS for quite a while, and known that some of the common traits seemed to fit me. However, I never considered that I might have it, largely because of the commonly-accepted idea that people with AS don't experience empathy. I'm a highly sensitive and empath...

I'm an aromantic asexual. Courtship rituals baffle me. I sort of wish it were possible to reproduce via parthogenesis, because I'd love to have a child of my own - I've got strong maternal urges. I just don't see any appeal in the conventional method. ;)

I'm very close to my father, and have been since I was a young teenager. He's strongly introverted, and it was incredibly beneficial for me to have a non-extrovert role model in my earlier years. I still live with him and he's probably the most important person in my life. My mother is an emotionall...
