If you are not taking an SSRI for anxiety and depression -- even one at a small dosage (10 mg) will help -- will you? Things aren't that simple unfortunetly, I'... |

Fronts: Always trying to please people, not being able to say no to things I don't want to do incase I offend. Pretending to be something I'm not just to try and fit in. Not being honest about my lack of achievments in life, so as not to be made fun of. I need to accept that I am what I am, but it's... |

I'm supposed to be at the "High Functioning" end of the spectrum. if they only knew that when I've been able to function it's all been a front. Seems to get harder as I get older. |

I've suffered with mental health issues most of my life: Depression, Social Phobia & Anxiety, now I've been diagnosed with AS. This does make a lot of sence to me, it put's a lot of my problems into context. The thing is all my life I've felt that I didn't fit in with the "Norm". Never had a pro... |

I did use cannabis for a while in my teens but found myself becoming paranoid I'm very wary of the Skunk that's about these days as i believe it's much stronger. I have used stimulants (speed) in the past which helped me function but I know is definetly not good anxiety wise. |

I'm on the UK NHS waiting list for a Psychotherapist but here the wait could be years.
My Shrink claims to have an interest in AS but god knows how much she knows? |

I took buspar and imaprimaine )sp) when I was on it. I also have anxiety and it also stems from my my AS. I was told it's part of it too. I can see why it would be part of AS. I felt buspar did nothing for me and I still had anxiety while on Imiparimine. I think over the last 15 years I've been on ... |

I had a tendancy to use alcohol as a means of socialising for years, unfortunately it took over my life, hence I'm a recovering alcoholic. Seven years sober, I sometimes especially recently am tempted to start drinking again. |

Thanks to both of you for the replies: Having only just been diagnosed it does make sence of a lot of things that have happened to me over the years, it's just taking it all in I'm finding difficult. I've had a lot of contact with Shrinks for twenty odd years for the depression and anxiety, meds, th... |

I don't feel lonely in my own company but not having companionship in my life to share things makes me feel very lonely and as I get older the worse it gets. |

I think so, I also have depression, for years now. The Psych's have now come to a descision that both anx & dep are down to my AS.
Meds in UK might be different I'll have to look them up. |
