Stimming: - Voluntary -Feels Good/Relieves Anxiety -Often Rhythmic (Rocking, pacing, etc) -Can last seconds to hours. Tics: - Involuntary (however can be Suppressed, I'd compare it to blinking.) -Response to negative feeling. (There is a felt "need" to tic which goes away after performing the actio...

I have had TS my entire life and I have had very little success trying to change tics when I have them. A tic will stick with me for anywhere from 6 month to a 2 years. One day I will wake up with a tic and one day I will wake up and it will be gone. I have vocal tics, but I do not say phrase. I hav...

The only way being "disabled" affects me jobwise is not being able to drive. I am 30 and driving is just not my thing. Other than that, I can manage all of my other differences pretty well.

Not driving gets in the way of being hired for many jobs.

Driving is one of the things that I have taken the most flack for during my life. People have always pressured me to drive and I have just never felt comfortable. I can drive. In fact, I went to a drive school. But I have never taken the driving test. I just never feel safe on the road. I think abou...

I have TS and head jerking is one of my main tics that I cycle through. It really is a pain (literally) at times and it also gives me some upper back problems.

If people are giving real scores then we are much better than the average group. If the avg. group is 75% we are at least 90%.

I got 92%, 23/25.

I am not great at all at math, but I do think very much in the abstract.

To pay the bills I work in the Mental Health field. However, my main love is philosophy and religion. I just earned my MA in Spiritual Traditions and Ethics. I teach some, but looking for more work in the field (its rough!) Hopefully a PhD is in my future. I have found that thinking about "deep thin...

I've just had another thought, as I've read the more recent responses that hadn't come through yet as I was typing. Rascal77s has easily (I gather) come up with a number of possible reasons why someone might like listening to music. I suppose I could too. But if I was asked this question in a forma...

To the majority of people I appear very "normal." I never knew that I had AS until now so I just had to learn to manage with it. My problem is that I don't really care if people like me, but I think that I "should" care if people like me. Therefore, I try not to offend them (even though I don't real...

I am 32 and this is my first post on this (or any other AS) forum. I was just diagnosed last month after having run into some marriage problems. I have read quite a bit on AS at this point. However, nothing has been more helpful than this thread. Houseofpanda, you describe me to a tee and ask every ...
