I think for me avoiding eye contact is a form of hiding from the other person. I know that "if I don't see it, it doesn't exist" doesn't really work but that's what it feels like, I avoid looking at someone and unconsciously hope he/she stops focusing on me. Also I just feel stupid staring at someon... |

My special interests have never really changed. I've had the same ones all my life, reading fiction and playing computer games. The only thing that has changed is the genres of fiction I read, and both of those shifts happened before I had ever heard of aspergers so it's hard for me to answer this. ... |

I don't drive. Never had any interest in it since I don't go anywhere beyond school/work and I can get a lift or public transportation for that. Also I dislike the idea of driving a car, they just seem so needlessly big and clumsy and complicated. I don't know if I would be comfortable driving a car... |

I've known for a long time that I will never have kids. I really really can't stand children. I don't hate them, they just get on my nerves and annoy the hell out of me. The thought of being permanently stuck with one is just horrible to me. I'd get sterilized if I could just to be safe but sadly I ... |

I'm a self-diagnosed aspie and quite frankly I doubt I'll ever have a relationship of any sort. I just have no desire whatsoever to spend time with or talk to anyone else. I can't even imagine actually wanting to spend time with someone, it's just so alien to me. I don't have anything against dating... |

My main special interest is reading fiction. It started when I was at elementary school age and picked up a fantasy book my dad was reading. I was immediately hooked. For most of my life it has been specifically fantasy books, but some years ago I read a vampire novel (before Twilight, in case anyon... |

For me it really depends on what kind of distractions are around. And it isn't clear cut at all. Just now trees are being cut in the woods nearby and I'm fine with my window open, but some other kind of noise might really get to me. Yesterday we had guests and I had to close the door to my room to b... |

I used to be exceptionally good at math and related subjects like physics in elementary and high school. Now that I haven't studied it for years I barely remember anything about it anymore. I feel like I still have the skill but just can't remember any of the equations and rules and even simple stuf... |

I don't feel lonely. I don't have any friends, but I have no wish to talk to anyone anyway and I'm content being alone. I can get human interaction online through a means that I'm much more comfortable with than talking face to face with someone. The only exception to this is during a depressive epi... |

I have a lot of issues with this. I use post-it notes so I can write anything important on them and then stick them somewhere I know I'll see it. Of course I still occasionally forget to actually look at the note, but mostly just having it written somewhere seems to help me remember. Also I use my p... |

I also eat only very bland foods and can't stand any kind of spices at all. My family claims that my foods have no taste to them. When I was a kid they used to try to make me experiment and broaden my horizons, but it just didn't work. I could immediately tell when a dish had something extra in it, ... |

Definitely forums for me. I don't have friends and I'm generally not comfortable talking to anyone, not even family. I don't really even want to talk to people, just not interested in it. I like that online I can take the time to plan, reread and edit my post before I put it up. I can answer on my o... |
