1. Try to return it, if it was lost or stolen. 2. Give 10% each to my church, elementary, and high school. 3. Pay taxes on the $10million. 4. Pay off my student loans. 5. Repay my parents and sister for supporting me financially recently. 6. Pay for someone to teach me how to become independent. 7....

Years ago, I was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency. Since then, I have been taking a daily vitamin D3. I am on the low end of normal weight, and I walk for 2 hours, once or twice a day. I still struggle with fatigue. Recently, I was also diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome....

Tragically, I finally found out what I might like to do just before finding out that I cannot really work. Maybe sometime in the future, I will be able to fix or find accommodations for the limitations holding me back... What did you think you might like to do? I scored very poorly or at least some...

They gave us a Career Aptitude Test in high school. The part that tested my abilities was fine, even if it revealed that I was not perfect in some areas. That did not bother me. But the part that tested my preferences made me cry - I mean, I actually cried, so loud that the person giving the test ca...

I also cannot visualize images in my mind. I have no visual, audio, emotional or other sensory experience when imagining something. Instead, I can only hold a vague, fleeting "impression" (much like the "tip of the tongue" phenomenon) about the subject in my mind, and mentally li...

You kind of answered your own question, GiantHockeyFan. "How on earth could anyone have missed ADHD if it is that obvious? ...because I was a intelligent child, I was considered to be 'lazy'..." They would rather attribute your issues with laziness or other personal character flaws that yo...

The women probably recognize autistic traits in your interactions, or lack thereof, and your special interest in birds. They are also probably attributing our deficiencies in social communication to our strong focus on our special interests; as if your strong interest in birds is a "cage" ...

A year and a half after my diagnosis, I had an interview to determine the amount of support I needed. I used my Supports Intensity Scale interview results to determine my autism level. The interview measured the type of support needed (monitoring, verbal direction, physical assistance), how frequent...

It costs most, sometimes all, of my mental tokens just following my daily routine tasks. Doing anything outside of my routine is mentally difficult, and task switching near impossible, so each non-routine task requires its own day. And most require extra preparations, follow-up, or recovery time fro...

Remind the therapists that the purpose is communication and being a happy autistic, not speech and somehow becoming non autistic. Becoming non autistic is not possible, and encouraging speech over communication is ableist.

I was born with a rare low vision disorder that was diagnosed during my senior year in high-skewl. After graduation my voc-rehab counselor sent me to a place where blind or visually impaired people learn life skills. One of the classes I had was mobility where you learn how to go out in various pla...

The only law I can find only covers the duty and liability of a driver that causes an accident with a blind person. But according to the American Council of the Blind, only the blind may carry white canes under my state law. I just do not know how that can be illegal if there are no set fines or pen...

Looking down at the ground directly in front of me, I can only see the few items between me and the edge of my vision. Then, my slow brain only has to process and identify those few items. And I can handle that, but then I constantly run into things before they come into my field of vision. Looking ...

Thank you for your responses. Unfortunately, by themselves, they will not be sufficient. It is not terrifying, anxiety-producing, or stressful; it just overwhelms my senses so that I cannot make sense of any of it fast enough. Psyching myself up will not help overcome the physical limitation. And di...
