We had sealed the windows and such, and we had turned on all the air conditioners so that when the power fell out we would still be cool for a while, so almost all the noise from the outside was blocked out. I'm not affected by this hurricane, but I was still living in Cairns when Cyclone Larry, a category 5 (4 when it made landfall) cyclone, hit. Fortunately for me, Innisfail, a town 80km south of Cairns, received the brunt of it.
